Wolfie to WRKO listeners: settle down...

Be calm, folks, the great Jason Wolfe has spoken. For those on the RKO mailing list:

He starts by mentioning how excited he is that WRKO is doing the Sox games. Then:

"Our contract calls for us to air 15 spring training games from Florida, in addition to the full 162 game regular season schedule. A handful of the those 15 spring broadcasts begin at 1p on weekdays and as such have caused us to pre-empt the Rush Limbaugh show. I apologize to those of you who are Rush fans, be assured that this only affects us on eight days in March. The decision to air spring training games on WRKO was necessary in order to properly establish that WRKO is the new flagship station for the Red Sox. Once we get to the regular season, all weekday afternoon games (with the exception of the two openers) will air on our sister station WEEI, and Rush will air, in his entirety, on WRKO."

Notice what was missing: any mention of Howie. Thanks, Jase...

So that's why he hasn't answered my email. It must've taken him forever to come up with that notice.

Who cares what Jason thinks? Certainly NOT the WRKO listeners.

WRKO follies continue. Just go to the Listen Live link on their site to pick up Howie.

No wait, the stream is not carrying Howie. It's carrying the Red Sox game. Am getting it on
the WNTK site though

>>Vice President Barak Obama.

Good thing he paid those parking tickets; it only took 17 years

Jason has nothing to worry about. WRKO had a great trend in January, and Howie blew the doors off. WRKO's afternoons are around double WTKKs' persons 25-54.

Bitch all you want on this board, but all that matters is ratings.

If they get great ratings, no prob; just want to be able to hear all of Howie's show without having to resort
to streaming (and then the streaming is airing the WRONG thing!)

>>Who cares what Jason thinks? Certainly NOT the WRKO listeners.

A caller to Howie's show said he's tired of the Sox pre-emptions. Howie: "that makes two of us".
People do care...also they care about the Hack's morning show.

I know they CAN NOT stream regular season games, I wonder if pre season games are also a no no and that someone at 10 Guest St. screwed up royally.

As to pre-empting Howie he should lighten-up. WRKO under General Tire and Rubber Company did the same thing to The Dean, Jerry Williams, in the early 80's when he was Number ONE in all of Boston radio and they carried then "Red Flops". Of course, General Tire and Rubber Company subsequently had all their licenses taken away for giving bribes to the Nixon Administration and the then WRKO General Manager Bob Fish was fired in '83. So, I hope Julie and company packed lightly for the ride out of town.
By the way, Jerry NEVER complained about the preemption. Of course, he really wanted to be a major league baseball player having grown up in the shadow of the Brooklyn Dodgers.

>>How is it the wrong thing?? It sounded like you where getting what was on RKO to me

They were supposed to stream Howie instead of the game. MLB rules prohibit live
streaming of games (though you can hear them...for a fee) and I'd think exhibition games
would apply too
