What's up with the processing on this station? It sounds like they are using a Comrex over a Ma Bell line much like streaming.
 
The station is brokered, so it probably depends on what time slot you are listening. I believe the Bill Drake shows come out of the old WSPA studios in Spartanburg Not sure where the other shows are done. It's certainly not out of the realm of possibilities that some of them come from home studios with a POTS, ISDN, or IP codec to get it to Davidson.
 
This is all the time even when the programming originates from the studio. It sounds like low bandwidth over phone lines between the studio and the transmitter or someone doesn't know how to set the processing.
 
When I hear the oldies on-NOT the other garbage, sports shows, talk shows-it sounds good. I think they are using an Omnia 6.
