Woman broadcaster to work the Masters on CBS

For years, Augusta National, home of the Masters would not allow a woman to be a member of their club.

Next year, a woman will be broadcasting the Masters on CBS.

Former LPGA player Dottie Pepper has been hired by CBS Sports as an on-course reporter and analyst for the CBS's golf coverage beginning in 2016.

“I am excited to join CBS Sports and return to covering live golf full time,” said Pepper. “As an analyst you want to cover your sport at the highest level and being a part of the CBS Sports golf team with the strongest and best schedule in golf, including two majors, affords me the opportunity to do just that.”

Pepper has previously worked golf coverage for both NBC and ESPN and is excellent at her craft.

If I were the author or editor of the article quoted above, I would have used the phrase "female broadcaster" instead of "woman broadcaster" in its title.

For years, Augusta National would not allow people of color to be a member of the club either.

Then Tiger Woods won The Masters. In fact, he won it a few times.

Actually the Augusta National Golf Club welcomed its first black member in 1990 and its first two women members including former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in 2012. Tiger first played in the Masters in 1995 as the US Amateur Champion invite and won the Masters in 1997.
