WOND weekend host April Kauffman murdered

I read one account of the story stating that she and her husband kept guns in the basement of their home. Not pointing fingers, but I hope that supply isn't responsible for this tragic death. From what I've read, she's certainly done a lot for the community and beyond. Billy Joel said it best: "Only the good die young."

Watch it be something political related or an act of envy. Thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends. Not good to hear especially with Mother's Day around the corner.

FOR THE RECORD

April Kaufmann has been a co-host of the King Arthur Show, 2-4pm weekdays at
WIBG1020. She once had a program on a crosstown station. This Wednesday at 3pm,
WIBG1020 will rebroadcast her last program heard just last week.

April was an extremely giving and talented friend of so many, from veterans
to young and old alike. WIBG1020 is the Talk of South Jersey, and April was a major
part of our afternoon programming.

Sorry for miscrediting April's employer in the title, I went by the original report in The Press which had her at WOND. I noticed that was corrected in subsequent media reports, but this forum doesn't allow users to edit their posts after a certain amount of time has elapsed or I would have updated it.

Very caring, high energy lady who took care of others' needs and made sure everyone was okay. Hope she did not miss someone in her surroundings, maybe keeping tabs on her schedule, etc. Weird people with issues in areas like that, so close to a resort, don't always make it to the radar screen.

April was laid to rest on Monday. Meanwhile, the latest reports on this ordeal suggest police are close to making an arrest.

What does that mean? Weird people everywhere don't always make it to the radar screen. Regardless, according to the media coverage there was no sign of forced entry, nothing taken, so unless she and her husband were in the habit of leaving doors and windows unlocked, it seems, and I know I'm speculating here, that it was someone she knew well enough to have a key to the house. I'm not saying she wasn't followed and stalked, but it's not like she was on a big station with a regular show. She was on a small station with a once a week show, if that. This likely had more to do with her husband, children/step children, something else, or some of the work she did with veteran's etc. than it had to do with her being on the radio.

If you go back over my post, including the portion you cited in quotes, you will note that I said nothing about it had to do with anyone in radio. I also don't tend to go by media coverage, because while the police might tell the media or you everything the media or you know, they don't always tell the media or you everything they know.

My mistake, Silkie, on the assumption - it's on a radio board, she was a radio host, and you were saying you hope she didn't miss someone that followed her schedule, etc. which indicated a stalking instance. Regardless, I think we can agree that there are weirdos under the radar everywhere. And you are correct that we shouldn't listen to the media for stuff like this, since they police have already said they're holding stuff close to their vest so as not to leak details that could help the case. However, the one fact no one disputes is that there was no sign of forced entry and nothing taken, and the Atl. County prosecutor specifically said that the residents of Linwood shouldn't have to worry. One might say he didn't want to incite a panic, however in cases where there is a random killer running loose, they tell everyone to be careful, lock doors, etc. He stated the opposite, which would indicate the killer knew April in some manner as to get into her house without forcing entry and have the prosecutor say the rest of the residents aren't in danger.
