Wonder when whas will fill the 9 till noon shift???

I think it is disgraceful to have paul harris or anyone else on at that time that does not live here. Harris lives in st louis and acts like he is here!!!How dare whas do that i wish whas would get sold they are such a bad station to listen to!!!I like sterling is he even local???If not i have no use for him either!!!

Sterling had a shift on 610 WTVN Columbus a few years ago...I've always suspected he lives there.

i like sterling. i hope he gets the gig. i wonder what he's up to now because he hasn't updated in ages.
My biggest problem with Sterling is he cannot finish a complete sentence, and isn't that something that should be required if you are a Talk show host, without going off on several tangents, sprinkled with his own weird opinions, and it would be impossible to attempt to diagram his sentences, cause there's so many random thoughts that are never really completed, cause I think he's one of this generation of talkers who like to hear himself talk. ;D

Seriously, Sterling's claim to fame is subsitute host. At least Paul Harris had some connection to the gig since he was a friend of Francene's, but his main job is for KTRS in St. Louis. Harris mentioned some lady will be filling in this next week and that he would be back in the next few weeks. I would say it will be late March before something is decided. I hope Joe Elliott gets the job. I think people would make a special effort to listen to Joe each day.

I'm thinking Sterling is back in Cincinnati and feeding the show out of WLW. He was on WLW some after the Columbus gig but that was a while back

They need a local host for this shift. I was listening the other day to Paul Harris, when a caller mentioned the Ivan Cano incident, and Harris hadn't a clue to the horrible death of the baby from Mexico.

Be it joe or someone else i guarantee it will be local. Hopefully someone that lives here even though everyone they had on that shift moved here. Jane Norris was on kfi in los angeles when she came here and both francene and ziegler came from elsewhere i just hope this time they give it to joe i bet a tone of listeners have written mgmt at whas and said to hire joe hope they listen!!!

Just like when peter b left djx listeners wanted ben davis to get the morning show and he did.

I assure you they're not holding back out of respect for Francene. :D If they had somebody, that person would be on the air tomorrow morning.

They only found out they had a job opening two weeks ago, and they are likely still getting airchecks from people yet to be considered. The winners of the batch likely have to be sent off to corporate or to consultants for them to weigh in. Then they have to fly people in here for interviews, and there will likely be on-air tryouts. They probably have a hiring deadline in the area of March 1. That's only 6 weeks after Francene's passing, and that will be very aggressive if they can pull it off that quickly. But they need to.

The person they hire will probably have to give notice to their current employer, find a new place to live, and make arrangements to move. That part alone will take 2-3 weeks.

The magic date is April 1, because that's when the book starts. It wouldn't surprise me if that was the new person's first official day on the job.

Seems like a very lengthy process though I'm not knocking it. Would a current employee have a chance at the opening? Do you feel a female has a better chance than another male? I wonder if Mel Fisher would be good in a talk show format? How bout Mindy Peterson from the news department? I only mention Mindy cause there is some precedent for this with Denton Randall moving from news to talk staff 10 years ago.

What can a listener do to get our favorite cheap part-time help hired for this position? Make phone calls to the station? Send emails?

Nothing.

Exactly, Clear Channel does a very good job of hiring cheap, part time talent on their very own.

I doubt that Francene was cheap. But even if we assume they are going to spend some money to get someone good who will do it on the local level like she did, listeners don't get a vote. There is zero that anyone can do do influence the decision.

A scenario that might happen, Glenn Beck. Meiners hates his guts but then again those who run things beyond Louisville might decide, like many CC markets, Beck needs to lead into Rush.

That's their only timeslot to discuss local issues in a longform talk environment. They've been quoted in enough places saying they're going to hire a local host that I have to believe they will. It would be a big public black eye, if they didn't.

As to who will eventually land in that slot, who knows? Given the state of the industry, it's got to be a pretty sought-after position. I'm sure they'll have a lot of quality candidates to choose from. It should be interesting to watch it all unfold.

Toward the end she wasn't. But this was her first talk gig. I'm sure they had her for a deal the first few years.

Can anyone tell me why they can't just hire joe elliott after all the interviews they have to have???

Well, because we have no idea who else they're talking to. It's kind of presumptuous to assume that Joe Elliott is automatically the best candidate, when no one knows who he is being compared to.

I'm enjoying listening to all the different fill-ins getting tried out.

Maybe they'll hire Conan O'Brien. I hear he's available......... :D

I like joe elliott and there are others but i think it would be smart pr and it would speak well of whas something people do not say anymore!!!

I like mary the fill in for this week but when a caller mentioned the 2004 ky senate race she didn't seem to know anything about it.

Conan move to louisville not gonna happen lol well he could do the whas shift from the kfi studios lol
