Wondering about KTVK and KNXV

I would guess there is still an insurance investigation going on looking for cause (and fault).

Probably everything is on hold until a settlement. May be a while.

Think their premiums will go up after this?

KNXV has hired an outside helicopter company to patrol the skies for them. Their remaining pilot is joining that company as well.

as for KTVK?

I guess Belo can wait for CBS to buy KPNX, then swoop up NBC aff. and bring in much needed ad revenue to help fund new HD ready chopper. No?

I have to hope that there is a better reason than that...

KTVK parent company Belo is not only waiting on insurance investigations to conclude; they're also continuing to counsel the staff who obviously took this whole thing incredibly hard (not implying that the crew at KNXV didn't); and looking for a permanent equipment replacement as opposed to a temporary fix.

You really think Gannett is going to sell 12?

Only if the FCC says they have to sell one of their properties will they do so. And my guess is that it'll be the Repulsive that goes.

The only way I think Gannett would sell 12 would be to NBC, and I doubt seriously that such a thing will happen since the network seems to want to concentrate their O&Os in the Northeast & California (Chicago, Miami, and DFW being exceptions - they sold all their others). KPNX is one of NBC's strongest affiliates, though, and I'm sure they wouldn't want CBS to grab it.

Besides, is CBS unhappy with KPHO, or are they seriously looking at buying a station here and Meredith won't sell?

I understand that KPHO and WGCL, Atlanta are considered flagship stations.
Meredith must be very happy with the two properties.
I welcome any correction.

One must remember in the late 80's when CBS offered to buy up KPHO.
Meredith wanted up and CBS was offering down.
That was 20 years ago and in the words of Dr. Dylan, "Things are a changin'"

If CBS were to buy up KPNX or KTVK for that matter, it could trigger another nightmare from 1994 and the nationwide affiliate switch, that turned into a major nightmare for all nets.
Remember?

My $$$ is on the Tiffany net keeping and perhaps taking under her wing the shop on Black Canyon Hwy.
Let NBC buy up KTVK and let KPNX loose.
At the least, 5 and 15 would be safe.

Bruce Haffner is back up flying in a back-up Newschopper 3 as of the 30th of October. If you live in Phoenix the temporary is gonna be a Blue helicopter and there getting the new one outfitted and painted.....its gonna look like the old one except the 3 logo in mid cab and a yellow tail.....and I think Jim & Scott's name is gonna be above the cockpit....but yeah this is Bruce's 2nd day back up and 15 has been up for a month-ish
