WONE "980 Homer" broadcasting Bob and Tom at 2:30 am?

I noticed Bob and Tom in place of the traditional FOX Sports Radio Monday morning. What's up with that? ???

Premiere is syndicating the "Bob and Tom All Nighter", reruns of Bob and Tom for overnight. Evididently WONE is carrying it.

From the world-wide "who cares" department: Nobody's listening anyway. The C.C. gurus have taken a 5,000 watt am in Dayton, combined it with a 1,000 watt am in Springfield and their combined share doesn't even show up in Arbitron. It's not the signal, it's the programming. FOX Sports has become a retirement home for those not good enough to be on ESPN or do a real show on a real signal.

You sound like you work for ESPN. Am I right?

I don't know about rumor boy...I don't work for ESPN, and I don't care about Fox Sports, either. All I know is that the once dominant WONE-AM and WIZE-AM have, basically been flushed...airing programming that few, if any care about in Dayton. In quite a few books lately, WONE has shown a mighty " " share. But, I understand it helps CC "get the beer money". (which mystifies me, but...) Other than that, both stations are a total waste of watts in my humble opinion.

As far as NASCAR goes, most people watch it on TV, few listen to it on radio. Even as popular as the sport is, it doesn't surprise me they couldn't sell it out.

CC treats WONE/WIZE like a "port-a-john" that hasn't been serviced in 10 years! The local show that's on 3p-7p is pretty good. The rest of the programming SUCKS!

CC has done the same thing with 1530 Homer. Only local from 3-6PM. The rest is material for the port-a-potty programming.

THIS IS TOTAL INSANITY FROM THE CLEAR CLUNKHEADS!!!

Sell WIZE back to the locals in Springfield....and make it local again!

(WULM is no longer there, the Miracle Mile studios/offices are dormant and will inevitably become another radio slum!)

I'd doubt you'll see WIZE ever go local until and unless a local owner buys it.

I wouldn't mind seeing WIZE or WULM go to Joe Mullins.

Far as I know, Joe wasn't even in the bidding when WULM was for sale, so assuming WIZE became available, I don't know if he'd go for it or not. Least he would have his only night signal.

WULM was sold to Radio Maria a year ago. Is a repeater of originating station KJMJ Alexandria,LA, Also owns WHJM-FM licensed in Anna but transmits out of Botkins near Wapakoneta with a studio in Minster. WULM is moving its studio to the second floor of the Father Boyle Center (the former parish convent) at St. Bernard's Parish on Lagonda Ave. near downtown Springfield. WULM's new studio is in need of an outdoor wooden stairway leading up to the second floor of the former convent. When the move is complete after the stairway donation, the new studio will feed programs directly to the originating station in Alexandria which supplies the sattellite feed to the Miller Rd. transmitter. WULM also has a makeshift Dayton studio at U.D.'s Marian Library where local live programs are also fed to originator KJMJ along with the Minster studio. If you would like to donate the much needed stairway call (937)425-8773 in Dayton.

I agree with Kirkiefan...sell WIZE back to the locals...would be nice if Joe Mullins bought it...but not as a WBZI simulcast...make it Springfield's local station once again..before Miracle Mile's studio degrades into a radio ghetto. The driveway has already been in bad shape for several years.

Again, based on experience, I don't have confidence Springfield folks would turn off the Dayton stations and support it. It's a different generation than the Smilin' Bob fans

At least WIZE has an "I" in the call letters, so it would fit right in with "The I's Have It" slogan! As far as simulcasting the current Mullins format, I don't think either of the current WIZE listeners would care much. :)

Last night I tuned in to WONE 980 around 3:30, and they were back on sports talk. Good for them; I was sick of ESPN having a monopoly on the 12-5 sports talk cycle.

Doesn't Springfield's economy make Dayton's look positively vibrant?

You don't do anything with WIZE as a standalone until that changes. (And, of course, it's an AM station with no recent programming history to do a news/talk format that wouldn't be superceded by Dayton, particularly WHIO...)

BTW, Bob & Tom probably ended up on 980 as an automation mistake. Wrong satellite channel.

Well said. Springfield has been in the toilet economically for at least 25+ years that I'm aware of. Not exactly a paradise by any means. On the other hand, does WONE gain -anything- from simulcasting on WIZE? Is anybody over there selling?

It would appear to be a throw-in from here...barely worth the electricity to keep it on the air, but since CC bought it at one point, what else could they do with it?

It's not like people are lining up to buy a standalone AM in Springfield. Heck, the only other one is now a religious station.

I can't express what I saw the one time I drove through downtown Springfield a couple of years-ish ago. "A war zone" would be almost an appropriate phase. The economy passed it by some time ago, and it certainly can't have gotten any better with the recession.
