WONE-FM Akron

It seems every time I tune to the station, within 10 minutes I hear Green Day's "Boulevard of Broken Dreams." Though the song is alright, isn't there a point in time where you cut down a song's airplay to prevent overkill? Hearing that song makes me want to tune the station out, which I do.

Another thing I'm curious about, though I admit I'm nowhere near an expert on rock or classic rock formats. WONE-FM identifies themselves at times as "The Home of Rock 'n' Roll" while other times they say stuff like "playing the best classic rock." Question 1: are rock 'n' roll and classic rock considered to be the same thing (I think no is the answer)? Question 2: if WONE is primarily classic rock, then why the frequent plays of songs from bands like Green Day? Question 3: if WONE is attempting to cover all eras of rock, why are they so heavy (or so it seems) on the classic rock era?

Finally, is TKO Grady live? And why does he sound like he is shouting all the time?

That's all.

1. rock and roll and classic rock, basically the same thing.
2. Trying to cover all bases, indie money
3. They are, at the core, a classic rock station.
4. TK O'Grady, live about half the time.

"Rock and Roll" is most associated with 50's/60's/70's music. It's a bit antiquated for a classic/mainstream rocker. The Stones and groups from the 60's refer to music as "RNR", but they were kids in the 50's, so to them it's all "RNR".

Playing currents technically makes WONE a mainstream, but it's to get product, promote shows, etc. And as stated above, indie money.

WMMS became a Top 40 reporter in the early 80s to get product. Labels wouldn't co-opertate since they were a rock reporter. Gorman was like, if that's what it takes we're now a Top 40 reporter. <P ID="signature">______________

Are the ratings for this station still really bad?
Just wondering; I stopped listening to them a while ago-Seems like every time
I tune in I hear AC/DC (I can only hear TNT so many times in one day). Their format seems pretty limited...
