Won't be home for Lite FM's "My Music Weekend"

I sent in three requests for Lite FM's "My Music Weekend". My songs were to be played starting at 4:30 this afternoon! Too bad I'll have to miss it! Damn!

Despite the nasty weather, my neighbors are still having a BBQ. Oh well.

Maybe someone can listen and tell me about it later.

What'd you request?

1. "Reflections of My Life" by Marmalade
2. Forget
3. "Ever the Same" by Rob Thomas

I'm not familiar with #1 and #3.

Let us know if you think of what the other one is.

Reflections Of My Life by Marmalade is an awesome song from 1970. It's a down tempo song and done very well. It's one of my all time favorites. It's one of those songs that you may not know by name, but when you here it, you know it.

Ever The Same by Rob Thomas was from 2005 & that's about all I know of it.

Wait a minute.... Is that the chilling song Reflections that was used for the theme of China Beach?

"Reflections of... the way things used to be.."

If so, I just didn't know the full name... but the era seems right.

I like that song, too.

All-time favorite? No. I'm partial to "I Like Bananas Because They Have No Bones" or maybe Gershwin's "When You Want 'Em, You Can't Get 'Em, When You've Got 'Em, You Don't Want 'Em" or "La Donna Mobile" or....

They didn't play all three songs. ???

They played Rob Thomas' "Ever the Same" (which has been in heavy rotation for weeks now).

The Marmalde song would have probably been a nice treat to listeners too. It made it to number 10 back in 1970. I wish I can remember the other song! Maybe it was that Men At Work Song (which I like also) because the promo on their website said to request a song from the 70s, a song from the 80s, and one from the 90s or now.

Oh well, I still like the station!

You mean the Vegamite Sandwich? I like that.

That and a Devo song and David Lee Roth's Just A Gigolo (which is
actually an old standard) are the only 80s songs I know or like.
Well, I guess some of Madonna is OK, but I'm certainly no fan.

BTW, September Radio News will include a video that Tiny
Tim recorded right here in Broward. (Locations in Pompano
Beach and Fort Lauderdale, I am told.) Watch for it!

"She took me in and gave a vegamite sandwich."

Or is it "She took me in and gave me breakfast". Now I have to pull out my CDs! I have that song!

Please let me know what the name is. I may buy a copy from one of those pay-per-song sites.
(I have links to some of them on my site.)

Since we're on the subject, maybe you know this. In the early days of MTV, there was a
video on an Alice In Wonderland theme. I didn't care for the music but the viideo portion
was really interesting and very weird. (You see, I am an Alice geek, too. I have three or
four different editions.) Do you know the name of the song and who it was by?

73s and G'night already!

The song is "Down Under" from 1983. It's from their "Business As Usual" album. I don't have that CD, but I have the song on my Billboard Top Hits of 1983 CD.

The video you are thinking of was most likely "Don't Come Around Here No More" by Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers. Great song and video.

Thanks Obtuse....Don't think I've seen any of your postings here before. Welcome!

Well since we're on the subject ... I was never a big fan of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers; however, I did like some of his late-1980s material such as "Jammin' Me" (co-written by Bob Dylan), "I Won't Back Down" (with George Harrison), "Runnin' Down A Dream", and "Free Fallin'". Those last 3 singles were on his solo (non-Heartbreakers album) "Full Moon Fever". I also enjoyed his 1988 and 1989 work as part of the Traveling Wilburys in the role of one 'Charlie T. Junior Wilbury'.

103-SHE'S ONLY ROCK & ROLL - The Miami station to listen to for Tom Petty during the late-1980s.

Now that's a MASSIVE Memory !

THE MAJOR REMEMBERS

Kevin:

I'm pretty sure LITE FM did play your three songs -- (well, two of the songs ... and one of the artists). "Ever the Same" and "Reflections of My Life" followed by Men at Work (but instead of "Who Can It Be Now" it was "Down Under"). Even included an acknowledgment to "Kevin listening online up north".

Sorry you missed it. Glad you still like the station!
