Glenn Beck is a bit preachy and talks as if he were a professor teaching a class but his points are well taken and informative. Here in LA LA land competing talker (newly reformatted) KGIL circled the wagons as soon as Laura was off. They had carried Boortz in the morning which they replaced with a delay from the day before Michael Savage program. They immediately reinstalled Boortz at 10pm, delayed. That left KRLA where Ingraham was left to stick it out and they never officially made any allusions to her absence. Beck was on KLAA (as well as Savage) before they went all sports. KGIL which has a simulcast on 540 Tijuana can't carry Beck as he already has a San Diego affiliate, though they do carry the weekend edition. KRLA could well have picked up Beck but they didn't and it would have been a good fit as he would have led into locally produced Dennis Prager.
My guess is that 'KRC had their eye on Beck before and just needed an excuse to make the swap, hoping to ruffle the fewest feathers. As I've noted, here in Los Angeles, the syndicated talk shows bounce around a lot, though Rush has a solid home on KFI, even though he depresses their ratings a bit. KGIL has also picked up Ed Schultz dropped from Clear Channel's progressive talk KTLK, KGIL also carries Alan Colmes, evenings.
