Woody Hayes out at WTNT-FM 94.9 Tallahassee

In a move that caught most of us by surprise, Big Woody Hayes, a 12 year air talent for Clear Channel country WTNT-FM, was let go earlier this week.

I have been impressed by Woody's dedication to the community, going way above and beyond the call of duty.

With his talent, positive attitude and Christian faith, hopefully he will land on his feet with something better. Wishing Woody and his family the best.

Was he let go for any particular reason? Perhaps with 12 years of service to CC and 12 years of annual pay increases he had just priced himself out of the market?

Not sure. Station is almost now totally voicetracked by out of state folks now. I was told it was to make way for Bobby Bones but that did not come from a CC source, just a radio insider. Guess time will tell.

Lot of listeners are upset abd started a Facebook "We love Woody Hayes" page to help him in the interim. He is volunteering at a station in MA with their St. Jude radiothon at the moment.

Good all-around guy. Radio grapevine has it that former listeners are defecting to competitor 103.1 the Wolf. Wolf is owned by Opus and does have local talent outside of Big D and Bubba. They have tied WTNT in the last ratings.

The Bobby Bones Show use to run CHR stations but they didnt get enough stations but Elivs Duran beat them as they have most stations in the CHR. Then Bobby Bones Show went to Country slot to get more stations there.

So we now The Bobby Bones Show on WTNT 94.9 6am-10am And Elivs Duran and The Morining Show on 107.1 Hit Music Now WGMY (both run by Clear Channel Radio)

Who carries John Boy and Billy in Tally? G104?
Which secular music stations still have local morning shows in Tally?
What's X1015 doing in the AM now? Didn't they drop L&T?
Are any stations brave enough to just play music in the morning?

I wish TK1015 would get rid of those L&T guys. It seems like more and more folks have tired of L&T over here in P'cola and gone over to AM (WCOA WEBY or WNRP) morning news/talk. I really don't like the current offerings of AM news/talk shows available in P'cola, but I don't hear others complaining. I expect WNRP's morning show to kick it up a notch once they get their 106.5 translator moved downtown. WUWF-NPR also has a very popular morning show, even with the proletarians.

I still prefer The Morning Movement, a local show on Rocker WKSM (a Cumulus station!) but I still flip back over to JB&B especially if I find myself driving toward Mobile.

John Boy and Billy on Gulf 104 Tallahassee's Classtic Hits
Lex and Terry on X-101.5 WXSR
Elivs Duran and The Morining Show on 107.1 Hit Music Now
Big D and Bubba on 103.1 The Wolf
Kid Kiddick in the Morining on Hot 104.9
Tom Jonyer on 96.1 WHBX
Mike and Mike in the Morining on ESPN Radio WTSM 97.9 Tallahassee's Sports Moster
Steve Havey on Blazin 102.3 #1 For Hip Hop and R/B

The only local morining show that is left is John and Tammy on Star 98.9
99.9 Hank-FM and 106.1 The Path do music only (no morining shows)
WFLA-100.7 has Peston Scott (newstalk)
93.3 WVFT (fomer WGWD) newstalk national morining show

Bobby Bones show is not going over well in Tallahassee. WTNT's own fan page has been swamped with irate listener comments. Kind of amusing to watch someone else alienate their own P1 core.
