WOODY WINDHAM OUT AT WISW

Woody Windham has been fired from WISW-AM 1320. He was apparently let go after his show Friday morning. Any theories, comments, complaints, etc?
 
WISW is the WTMA of Columbia. Declining ratings, rip and read news, and piggybacking off Gamecock sports. It's sad what Cumulus has done to those two stations.

More than just those two

I know Woody wasnt the right fit for that format, but thats a LOT of local ad revenue out the door
 
Pretty soon all the true legends will be gone from Columbia radio.
 
The revenue for Woody's show was never the same after he was removed from WOMG. So it's not a big deal for Cumulus. This is a good thing for Woody in the long run anyway. Know some great sales people who've been let go as well.

The revenue may not have matched what he brought in on WOMG - but it beat EVERYTHING ever done on WISW

Do we know why Woody was let go?
 
With the way things are going in radio today it's hard to get shocked about anything anymore. Woody if you happen to read this and end up heading thru Santee for something, going fishing whatever stop by WLRE if you get a chance I would like to meet you.
 
No doubt it was Cumulus cost-cutting.

Unfortunately, Jonathan Rush at Clear Channel will probably be next when his contract expires. Talk radio is definitely not his forte.
 
I dont know. If it was a pre-planned financial decision, wouldn't they have had a plan in place for this morning, other than Doug Enlow who theyve already fired once.

No offense, but I've worked with him and I'm not entirely sure I know what you're referring to.

Most of the sales people have left on their own free will, and I totally don't blame them.

Cumulus has ruined radio. Woody will be sorely missed. Unfortunately the writing has been on the wall for a while and I'm sure came as no surprise to him. Probably a planned move to put that moron Kevin Cohen in his place.
 
I enjoyed Woody's show with music; I would sometimes make a request or play a game. When that was pulled and Woody became a talker on WISW, it took a while, but he had warmed up to it. It makes no sense, but the music show was more fun for him and his listeners anyway. So that needs to happen at another station; I wonder which one.
 
What goes around comes around one way or another. Radio is still way out in the middle or maybe three quarters of the way through that cycle. I believe it will come full circle in the future but we will have to wait and see, hopfully Woody will pop back up somewhere soon and ride more of this cycle on out.
