WOON WAS KICKING BUTT TODAY

I heard the tail end of You've Got To Hide Your Love Away..not The Beatles version. Might have been Pearl Jam. Followed by For Your Love by The Yardbirds. Followed by Double Vision by Foreigner. National Lampoon Sports Minute in between. Also: spots: LOTS of local spots.
I realize a lot of programming & music decisions aren't even being made in Providence at some stations, but it makes me wonder if a rock-based Top 40 station with music from the 60's through the 90's might work.

Did I say the format should be put on AM? I was scanning AM to see what was on and stopped when I heard rock music.

You mentioned WOON. So I was thinking AM. Well it seems like all the music you mentioned is stuff that B101 could now play. It doesn't sound like a bad format as long as there would be a large playlist.

I guess it depends on if people can get over the fact that music on AM sounds like crap, right?

It's only the radios that reproduce A.M. like crap in a lot of cases. If radios limited F.M. to 3.5kc you'd say the same about F.M. too. I have radios that hear A.M. out to 10kc & it sounds great, especially in stereo. Some would say A.M. stereo sounds better than F.M..

I'm surprised when WOON plays music they don't stick with oldies given that their audience is probably older. If they're getting local sponsors they're doing something right though even if it's the sales staff. I don't consider B101 rock based. They're classic hits but more top 40 gold sticking with well tested stuff whether it's rock or Cyndi Lauper but presentation is-oh never mind, presentation after mornings is presented from out of town.
