WOR 710 To Be off Tonight (Weds night 8-14)

I figured to relay this from the NYRMB, where David E posted the notification.

There had been notifications in the past about things such as WTIC Hartford scheduled to go off, and WQEW 1560. DXers heard some interesting stations in those 50,000 watt absences.

David speculates that WOR 710's silence might be due to tower installation of bays for a NYC FM station (WNSH) 94.7).

For some in the immediate NYC signal area, this could mean some good DX on 700 and 720.

Good DX, folks!

I would imagine that this could be interesting given all the signals on 710 in and around North America. My guess is that DXers in the NYC area will be getting a taste of the Cuban Chorus of R. Rebelde relays.

Won't be all that significant at my location. The abundance of splatter from WGN (720) makes 710 here problematic. On top of that, WOR is usually weak here to begin with...if it's even present at all.

On my last visit to New Jersey near Philly back in 2013, the Cubans on 710 were clobbering WOR on many nights.

And WOR has the strongest signal in south Jersey of all the big NYC stations.

Back in the early 70's, I tried to hear the old WGBS from Miami in the best null of WOR but never heard anything I could identify.
