I remember hearing this guy on WOR-the last time was the mid-90s-around the time Nixon kicked. IIRC it was between 3 and 6 PM. Last time I heard about this host, he had broken his back, or something.

Any info is appreciated.

I believe that you are speaking of Gene Burns. I found an online bio page that said he was at WOR in '92. After leaving he had complicated neck surgery. > http://cflradio.net/gene_burns__bio.htm

It seems that he may still be on air. > http://www.kgoam810.com/showdj.asp?DJID=3451

Not a liberal

Gene Burns calls himself a libertarian. And the other poster is correct, he currently is on KGO, San Francisco. I used to enjoy him on WOR. He had a point of view but was civil, open and fair minded and apparently did his homework.

Your description is very fair and I "engage" Gene in some friendly argument back to the boston days a few times or once or twice a year on KGO. He's a very smart person I always dont agree with but I respect his view points at times.

He's no liberal but he's better than 99% of the conservative hosts I have heard.
