While all the fanboys are starting multiple posts on Imus :-[ they missed a story -- the changes to the weekday lineup at WOR-710:

Noon-2 PM -- Bill O'Reilly (now live in NYC)
2-4 PM -- Dennis Miller (new; likely tape-delay)
4-6 PM -- Steve Malzberg (from late evening, replacing Hennican & White)
6-9 PM -- Michael Savage
9-11 PM -- Dr. Joy Browne (from noon)

Changes were effective 10/1 and reported in NERW this week.

The "big news": the station with the second oldest listeners (WOR) is taking direct action to capture the listeners of the station with the oldest ears WABC.

Even though we are already in a presidential election cycle, this is a long-term loser that pays off only if, you eliminate most local orgination and some (or all ) of what replaces them are paying for airtime.

As I see it, hard line con-talk has little future as a self-sustaining prospect here in NYC, especially on AM, and there are no obvious FM outlets in the forseeable future.

Thus, within the next 5-6 years con-talk in this city will come with either a subsidy or time bought outright by it's syndicator. WOR is porbably just positioning itself for a chunk of the action.

Good to see Malzberg back on a real 50,000 watter - and in drive time, no less... Also interestig that they cleared Dennis Miller, but the big name they should carry is Glenn Beck.

He had been on in late night. Was moved up so WOR could stay live and local in PM drive.

Beck has enough baggage as it is. Besides he's syndicated by a division of Clear Channel -- and Buckley Broadcasting will not do business with Clear Channel.

I agree, but when Glenn steps to the plate with a bigger check than Bill's and Dennis', he can get on WOR, too.

I don't think that is true. Buckley Broadcasting owns stations in several other markets and I believe they do business with C. C. and their syndication companies.
