It'll be interesting to hear how music sounds via- WOR's iboc I'll try to record a segment and post it.
Inevitably, this raises the question; will one of NYC's AMs go for a music format such as oldies or country especially now that there is a technology (iboc-hd) that has the potential to make AM competitive in this area.
If you look at NY's main commercial AM talkers, WOR-WABC, both have ancient and probably unsustainable demos. Sometime, over the next 5 or so years the current model may become too old for advertiser support, then what.
The problem with oldies is that it's listeners are almost as old as the conservative talk that dominates AM these days, although the format could be, over time, tweaked and evolve to attract a slightly younger audience.
Thoughts?
