i dont think Worcester will ever change all thier stations are the same really!!
Three Worcester stations one will find on the LEFT end of the FM dial:
88.1 - WCHC, independent college (Holy Cross)
WCHC has been broadcasting since Decmber 6, 1948. We are the strongest college station in Worcester with a signal that covers a radius of approximately 15 miles. We broadcast 24 hours a day, seven days a week on the air and via the web. Student and faculty deejays occupy air time during the school year between 8am and 2am every day.
As a college station, we have the benefit of financial independence. Therefore we are able to bring you commercial free broadcast of a wide variety of music. Due to the various backgrounds that each of our deejays come from, you can expect to hear any type of music on WCHC. We do not play what other radio stations play. We pride ourselves in our ability to expand our listeners' musical horizons through our eclectic mix of music and quality programming.
WCHC also broadcasts major Holy Cross sporting events on and off campus. Our sports radio team brings live coverage for those who can't make it to the games.
90.5 - WICN, NPR
WICN Public Radio, Inc. has been a vibrant presence in the cultural life of Central Massachusetts for over forty years. WICN originated in the Greater Worcester college community. It began in 1969 as Worcester's Inter-Collegiate Network, joining The College of the Holy Cross and Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) with other local colleges. WICN became a member of National Public Radio in 1980, and was accredited by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting in 1987.
91.3 - WCUW, independent community access
WCUW, 91.3 FM, is a non-commercial, community access radio station owned and operated by WCUW, Inc., an independent, educational corporation dedicated to the exploration and improvement of the communications media in the Central New England area.
WCUW seeks to inform, entertain and enlighten.
We seek to make a positive difference in the lives of the people of Central New England:
- striving to involve those communities typically under-represented by the media in programming and operations;
- providing responsible community members access to the facilities and training, regardless of race, creed, sex, life style, or age;
- educating the community about local issues;
- supporting local artists, activities and culture;
- promoting awareness of global culture and issues;
- fostering creative freedom and experimentation in the use of the communications media;
- operating the station through participatory democracy;
- and participating in the National Federation of Community Broadcasters.
(omitted the Boston NPR repeater as it is not a Worcester station)
