Some guy saying "word is Lander is out" is not a news story, it is BS (and not believable source). Until there is an actual link (no, not the Boston Herald's 'inside track') but an accurate link, there is NO truth to the story, nada, nothing, not a darn thing. You'll just have to sit and wait for an actual press announcement froma credible source like Radio and Records, Variety, Billboard, etc.
And, while we're on the subject of Mix985, if, in any way, there is even a sniff of truth to this (which I believe there is not), that means that all bets are off on Mix's format.
You "JACK FM" watchers will have field day with this. But while you do, I should point out, there are many Star, Jam'n'/Z 94-5 and Kiss people now at Mix, and just above, there is a post aobut whether "Move'n' " or another "Star93-7" type format will come to Boston. There is also the fact that Classic Dance music is no longer heard on WILD AM or FM in Boston. Something to think about, huh?
Hot AC has always been just another version of CHR (imho), not really a different format from Top 40. But now the 90's have long ended, the coffee house trends are over, and Hot AC can not stand on it's own. So, if it is true that Lander is out (which I do not believe he is), nobody at "Mix" is safe.
But we have a long way (and I do mean LONG way to go) before we get to that discussion. Remember, Lander is under contract, and owns a very nice expensive house in the Suburbs (Wellesley?) It is not in his best interest to leave 98.5, unless he has somewhere else better to go.
