WORK FLIPPING

Great news! Maybe the staff will get new, clean shirts to go with the format flip.

Only if it's new staff, the old staff will still stain

???

Do you suppose the programmers at Nassau will ever get the message that a format which works well in one market---DOESN'T NECESSARILY WORK IN EVERY MARKET?

Probably not!

Will Leif and Bill VT there too?

Let's hope not. Living in rural Vermont is bad enough. Having to listen to these two won't help matters.

Then again, Leif is on what, ALL of the other Franks? Say Hello to Leif-Fm, Vermont! Send all complaints to Princeton, NJ.

Just a few hours away from Frank. Will it WORK? Only time will tell....

It's only fitting to copy the website since they are copying the playlist.

Great...
Just add to the list of crappy formats
Mike, jack, Jill, bob Fm. This has gotten to be a joke I hope all the money grieving CEO's Regret money where their mouths are it in the future unfortunately, not going to happen.... I wish the FCC had a policy where every station in America had to play "Music" requests based on everyone who calls in or something along these lines, instead of taking advertising revenue to put into the station company’s owners pockets thinking of what listeners wanted to hear... unfortunately radio is a business so I am glad I to just volunteer my time in college radio instead of getting in the business for now

You guys can disagree me if you want. I just wanted to put the perspective into what was on my mind...

Great idea. When they put that into place, I'll call your show and keep requesting the 38 minute version of Grateful Dead "Dark Star" from Dick's Picks 754. You would play it. You wouldn't want me to file a complaint, would you?

extra duplicate post please delete thanks...

don't tempt me. I'll look around for that song....
but thats why I said something along those lines for an fcc policy...
its a pain and the butt to check lyrics for every song but it has to be done.
if their are swears in that song or other songs I play thats where fun comes in. editing... if theirs too many swears i'll just say their are too many swears in it and hopefully I'll get it on in future shows after finding an edited version...

Don't listen to him Jaime. As misguided as your thinking is, The Viking is just toeing his company line of voice-tracking and 150 song playlists. He's as irrelevant to this board as his station is to the Portland radio market.

thanks...
btw I do want to state our college station should be streaming online very soon for the first time ever but so far we have run into software issues which will hopefully be fixed soon. I'll keep tabs on it on my myspace pg or maybe make a posting on it

What's your company line? Playing the disco version of ZZ Tops Legs? Yes, I just heard this on WBLM. And I wasn't going to drink until at least 10! Cheerios and Boone's Farm, the breakfast of champions!

You're completely dodging the issue, Wino. At last count the name Leif ERickson is on THREE different Frank FM websites. Bill Fox and Corey Garrison on two. OVERKILL. Expect their voice-tracking portfolios to grow with this new Frank in Vermont. by the way, I like how Erickson looks like a lumberjack on one site and a college geek on another. Sure, nobody will notice you're the same person. What a tool.

At least The Captain and Tommy C can show up to work knowing they don't have to record 4 shows a day. As far as that "disco" version of Legs goes, the last book proved that Portland's sick of the same ol same ol. WBLM should be applauded for playing live versions, remixes, stuff from the archives. It may not work in other markets but Portland is different. Too bad for Nassau they're programmed by drones with graphs and charts from NJ.

Is there an end...?

You know, when I first discovered this site I thought it was an excellent source to view honest descriptive opinions of markets in and outside my listening area. A great way to hear and voice a persons thoughts on what was being offered to them on a daily basis in their car, home and office when it came to radio. I was told that I was viewing a bunch of disgruntled out of work radio personalities that had a chip on their shoulders against a former employer...but that didn't stop me from viewing threads that didn't feed on the animosity those type of people spent their time posting. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to sort out who works where when it comes to this board...you don't even have to be employed in the market to know who works for Citadel...Nassau...Saga or any other company in the area. The one "real" question I would ask if I could to each and every single person posting their hatred towards Nassau Broadcasting on this site would be...do you really believe that the people working for Nassau hate you? I mean "really" hate "you" as an individual? Do you believe that each and every morning they awake as a collective with the only objective on their minds being to do you some sort of harm? It would seem that the answer to this question would be a resounding "yes". Nassau employees spent all their time tracking shows on other stations?...oh, I guess this makes them less than you? Do the captain and tommy c spend all the time they are not tracking for other stations posting how they think other radio companies suck? What is wrong with a little healthy competition? Are the employees of Citadel afraid of Nassau because they walked into their backyard and smoked them in their very first ratings period? Is it really too difficult to focus ones energy into improving their on air product instead of lashing out at anyone who dares to do business in their town? That is what it is you know? A business...not a personal attack...nobody is trying to take your lunch money at recess...people from Frank to WPOR to WJJB and yes, even WBLM are trying to earn a living doing the same job that you do. If you lose focus on your audience and allow yourself to be absorbed by posting personal hatred towards people that you absolutely cannot effect or alter with your little posts and in the end this causes you to lose listeners and money...then you deserve it and you will not be missed. Okay, so that may have been more than one question...sorry I got on a rant. The lesson to be learned here is just like my momma always told me...if you don't have anything good to say...keep your mouth shut. If this isn't good enough...if you truly feel the need to vent some primal anger at your competitors...I have a suggestion that will truly settle the argument and give the listeners something they will never forget. You should contact the Portland Boxing Club...set up a ring in say...Monument Square...and have a good old fashioned slug fest! I bet you'll gladly give up your lunch money then.

I don't believe they hate anyone.

I believe maybe some of the people who post here are venting their disappointment with radio again. Here comes a promising entrant into the marketplace, a new company who just might have a clue. After all, their web site says “A New Generation in Broadcasting”. And again the “local” listeners are let down. Just another out of state company bringing along 5 or 6 “formats in a can” because they are safe, or they test well in Wheeling, West Virginia so they will work in Vermont too or maybe it's just the only formats they know. Face it… today’s radio just isn’t interesting or alive. It’s a way for investment companies to dupe people out of money and not really have to work for it. Now before people rip me apart for not towing the company line, think about this; do you really believe radio is interesting or alive? I mean really. When all you have to do is bring in a computer, load up a pre-set pile of burned out tunes, boot the thing up, press AUTO and walk away – tell me, is that interesting or alive. And speaking of alive – when was the last time you heard LIVE radio between 6am to 12 midnight weekdays? Most likely at least 40% of that time is voice tracked from out of town and if you are lucky you can hear that same voice at the same time coming out of 3 or 4 radio stations at once. Contrary to popular belief, listeners aren’t THAT dumb. What it may come down to is this; maybe people have given up on radio. And the “venting” you see posted here is just a way of saying good-bye. It’s been difficult watching something die a slow death, reminds me of watching a close relative get eaten away by cancer and you can’t do a damn thing to stop it.

Are the employees of Citadel afraid of Nassau because they walked into their backyard and smoked them in their very first ratings period?

As I mentioned above, maybe listeners had hope for a new company entering the market and once again, after "smoking" the competition with what would sound like something new, would catch on pretty quickly that what they have been hearing is the same old stuff, packaged in a slightly different way. Whether you call it Jack or Frank or Bob or Hillary it’s the same old tired, safe crap in a can. Then people start complaining because you let them down – again.

Those are my thoughts. Thanks for listening...

Rip away…
