WORLWIDE HDTV SYSTEMS AND COMPATABILITY

I've been researching on the change to HDTV in other world countries, and it seems that many countries will be later than the US in converting. Also, there are several digital systems that will replace the current NTSC, PAL, and SECAM systems, such as out HDTV and DVB-T in many European countries. Will there probably be compatability between the systems using converter boxes? As oposted to the current analog systems, where PAL is compatabile with SECAM, but neither has compatability with NTSC. I would think with all of the advanced techno
gy that this can be done.
