Worst blunders in Cincinnati radio history

Taking Nick Clooney and Don Hermann off WSAI and putting on Dusty Rhodes.

Pat Holiday was PD of Warm 98. He's now GM at Standard Radio/Toronto (CFRB, Mix 99.9). When I landed a PD job in 83, he sent me a great note from CK..."Welcome to Ulcer Gulch!" Nice guy and a great midday jock.

I see. And so, following the posted topic header, the WORST BLUNDER was Holiday hiring you? ;D

Great moments in Cincinnati Radio History:

Casey Petrowkski
YES 95 - didn't Jim Scott do mornings?
WEBN playing DISCO in the late 70's ("I'm Robin Wood.. here's Donna Summer with Bad Girls on WEBN" - don't laugh I heard it)
and then the all disco station (I think it was 103.5) with Pat Barry doing afternoons.

Pat's last day at Q102.. leaves an old pair of shoes in Mark Sebastian's box with the note: "Just try to fill these!"

WEBN suing WKRQ because it wasn't 102, it was 101.9 FM.

In the early 1980's, Jim Scott was doing mornings on YES 95, not a bad station. Honestly, have not heard those call letters in years. Pat Barry? He was not even close to being as popular as Mark Sebastian, who I heard on commerical in Sarasota, Florida.

The biggest blunder though was never on air. Taft has a Federal tradmark/copyright on "Q102" and never enforced it.

I really enjoyed watching Nick Clooney on the Channel 12 News, excellent anchor and represented the station with class, when I had the chance to see him in public around Cincinnati. If I needed an individual to host an event, Nick Clooney would be one of my first choices. Yet, Nick is not and never will be the radio jock in the class of Dusty. Don Hermann was one of the treasures in Cincinnati radio, excellent broadcaster.
