WORST HAZARD IN RADIO

Give to credit whom it is due... our colleague Robert Bass came up with this query and I think it begs its own post... Which begs the question...

What's the worst hazard you experienced in DFW radio? In case you have not noticed, there are several nubile underlings in this fare burgh of ours that pay heed to our proven expertise. Whatever... just answer the question. It passes the time between production, promotions or your other day job.

Reporting on traffic conditions in 1997, driving around the entire metroplex during a severe ice storm. We couldn't get the air units up. I hadto drive on the bridge over Lake Worth, and Lake Lewsiville. Ice and snow accumulated at least three inches. We used an Oldsmobile Bravada, with "smart tracking" It was a great vehicle and we never slid.,though we almost had others slide into us.

Well, the worst hazard I ever experienced in radio didn't occur in DFW. It actually occurred in a much smaller market in central Missouri when I got between my former OM and a microphone!!

Maybe someone with a knowledge of Infinity history can verify this.

I heard that Ron Chapman wanted to put his wife in a new car, have it hoisted into the air below a helicopter, and have her flown over DFW during morning drive.

The "worst hazard" that never happened.

The loss of two men when a tower went down in the mid 90's.
