Worst local commercials

Here's some from Kansas City

Midwest Hemorrhoid Treatment Center, sappy jingle "Don't Suffer in Silence" (also in St Louis)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hRGw5uAJBHc

Neil's Finance Plaza, uses his daughter to plug his repo mill used car lot, used to use her two oldes, I wonder if her daddy gave her a car from his repo mill for her 16th Birthday, Seems to run a lot on Fox4, even during primetime and the news

this place should just be called "Neil's Repo Plaza"

From Houston, anything with Mattress Mac. (Gallery Furniture.) Don't sell at the top of your lungs!

From D/FW, anything with Bill Dickason. (Southwest Kia.) He's just annoying.

Most memorable (don't know if they were truly "bad" or not, guess it depends on your POV): From SoCal, anything with Cal Worthington. Gotta admit, that's a name you don't readily forget.

"If I can't beat a new car Kia deal in Texas, I'm just gonna give it to ya!"

Sure, you're gonna give it to me all right. You just didn't say what.

Oh and he trots out the Kia Kid once in a while (probably his own son), all dolled up in an oversize suit, mouthing announcer words and pointing. Sure to get the awww/cute vote. And, 1 or 2 dealerships isn't enough for Bill, now he has *4*. No way he'll 'give it to me', with that many sets of overhead to deal with.

There are a couple of other good topics (older, though) about this:

*From Orlando: http://boards.radio-info.com/smf/index.php?topic=176533

Many of my personal Phoenix favorites over the years are listed in the second one (by a variety of people). Express Flooring is particularly pervasive. Forgotten in the earlier thread: Mor Furniture/Oasis Bedrooms (OK, not that bad, but they ARE very frequent cable advertisers. I've counted at least three Network Music production tracks once used as news open music in the background. Plus their kids' furniture division is called "Mor Kids and Teens for Less". I didn't know somebody had that wide a selection of adoptable children...furniture. Do you get a free girl with every pink and white bedroom set?).

There are some other ones on The Consumerist. Search for "Badvertising".

But for every Cal Worthington ad back in the day, you weren't very far from the next installment of Fred Rated from The Federated.

The worst (i.e. most annoying) local commercials almost always involve car dealerships.
Although the worst commercial I have ever seen was on a Savannah, GA tv station - it involved a rapper singing a rap song about a local attorney's office. At first I thought it was a joke, but I think it was legit.

I saw an attorney's ad during the news last night, and it aired a disclaimer that said, "Hiring an attorney is serious business, and your decision should not be based on advertising alone!"

I have seen this as well. That and another disclaimer warning people not to threaten others with suing only for the purpose to scare. I have seen this on other sites in the past such as when one right clicks over a page or a photo ( even by accident ) a notice pops up saying how your IP address had been tracked ( often showing your address too ) and how you will be sued for stealing copyrighted information...all just to give people a scare. Sadly REELRADIO.com at one time had done this practice but thankfully Uncle Ricky had got the message that it isn't cool to threaten others with a lawsuit..if he had no intention on actually suing that person in the first place otherwise Reelradio would have to pay for my lawyer fees and that costs money. Anyway Reelradio no longer shows this "notice"..

Three words: Bob King Kia!

I've never heard a rapper singing. How'd that go? ;D

Libero Jewelers in Connecticut. The ads usually air around 7:47AM during the Good Morning Connecticut Newscast on "MY TV 9".

Unfortunately it's not on YOUTUBE.

What about Bob's Discount Furniture? They're awful, but you never forget them. They're also shown in Boston and NYC markets now.

Worst Cleveland ads have to be the ones that run on Sports Time Ohio for Eastside Metals and that home improvement place with the little girl who yells, "My papa wants to sell you vinyl siding and replacement windows NOW!"

Ol' Mac has toned down some as he has gotten older. Fear not though, Mattress Mac has competition now. Hilton Koch of Hilton Furniture has got to be on par with what Mattress Mac once was, if not worse.
"And that's a fact....Jack!" Every once in a while I wish the fake chainsaw he uses to "cut" mattress prices would magically become real and slip out of his hands. He would also be the same guy who put the final nail in the coffin of our 4 time WNBA champion Houston Comets. He bought them, didn't follow the Rockets to the Toyota Center, instead choosing to play the home games in God awful Hofheinz Pavilion and folding the franchise after I believe just 1 year of ownership. May have been 2 years. Regardless, he makes me want to throw my television out the window when he comes on.
