Worst "personalities" on the air in Central Florida

Companies have gone for the young and cheap. There's a lot of bad "talent" on the air because they don't mind making low 20s. So lets stir the pot. Who's the worst sounding in the area?

Not a big fan of the male voices on PM Drive and evenings on Magic...lots of laughing at their own jokes and very mindless chatter.

WDBO had...and I stress the word "HAD" a girl by the name of Elizabeth Arenas doing news a few years ago who was absolutely terrible. There were comments about it back then on this website. It seemed like she certainly could have improved and developed but either nobody there cared to coach her or nobody knew how to coach her. Anyway, she left on her own accord I think and went to DCF and has since left there. I was listening the other day and there was some guy who was grossly over enunciating "96.5" and the word "news". He may have not been a WDBO employee but quite possibly from Channel 9 TV.

You hit the nail on the head Meep. Stupid ownership/management has turned its back on localism and the audience knows it. That's why the audience has gone elsewhere because there is no reason for them to listen to local radio. Stupid ownership/management can't wait to get rid of everybody on the air. Until they do, what is left is $10 per hour people who have been convinced there's some sort of "future"...like staying a year and get a raise to $10.25 per hour. Radio is circling the drain, plain and simple.

That's certainly a new and refreshing take we've never heard before. Contribute something original... What should be done to save it?

240 million listen each week and "the audience has gone elsewhere"?

Maybe you. But you are just one of some...not all by a long shot.

John and Leslye.

I'm stuck in traffic on Colonial Drive, half-asleep, and driving to a job I hate. I just want to listen to music, not "cheerful chit chat" between these two braying jack*sses.

The reason that air talent sucks is because we don't have a creative program director to do weekly air checks like back 'in the day'.
Stations today are run by lawyers who hire a guy with a business degree to be a PD. He doesn't know how to construct a break, be creative when talking on the air, etc. Their only advice is 'don't swear on the air'. Well, it's a bit more than that and I miss the days when jocks were trained and not just hired because they like music, have a business degree, have big boobs, will look good at a remote, etc.

Oh yea-same goes for music directors. I miss the days when a playlist was edited. Days ago I heard a song with a soft ending seg into a clash of horns & bass. Us vets are yelling at our radios and wondering if management is even listening to their own stations. They are-they just don't know any better.

The listeners don't care. Formats like Jack and Bob show that listeners perceive train wrecks as variety.

So many..but a sure bet is "Tater" from WHKR. How did she get on radio, let alone mornings?

Must be a country thing. That K92 show is pretty bad too. Dont know their names, and really dont care to either. I just know it sounds like kids playing with a Mr. Microphone.

The last time I spoke with owner of the Flagler County radio station group, I asked him why he didn't have people on the air. He told me most people find jocks annoying and they don't have anything constructive or of substance to say. I would have to agree with him and after reading this, agree with it further. Monica Rix from WDBO sounds uncomfortable and stumbles time to time reading her news.

Agreed. When coming out of a song, jocks used to comment on the artist, the album, upcoming concert dates, etc. Now, there's little if any reference to the music, but banter about an article seen on the front page of Yahoo!? THAT isn't disc jockeying!
