Worst place to am dx at night excluding big cities.

I assume it is with a high number of graveyard frequencies in the area.

I know Miami is a big place but getting clear channels are tough their due to Cuban stations and every Miami am station is 24/7 and only one reduces to 250 watts at night.WSB and WBT are the best chances at night.

As regulars on the board know, I've been a frequent traveler for a number of years. I'd have to say one of the most disappointing...and most surprising....is Key West. I was really looking forward to sampling the DX there on a visit two years ago, but conditions were awful. The place is small, compact, and loaded with noise sources to disrupt DXing. (Of course, as a destination otherwise, Key West is an absolute blast)!

I'd also have to say that the southeast is also generally not great for DX. In the summer, thunderstorms are frequent. And if you want to DX in the daytime, ground conductivity is usually pretty awful. Awful ground conductivity is also a problem in interior New England, much of the rest of the Northeast, as well as much of the interior Pacific Northwest.

I know the poor dx conditions myself as I can barely get WBT in daytime in Danville VA signal strength 0.5 of 10 at best and most times its static and maybe 1.5 of 10 in winter. Wichita KS can pick up a 1000 watt station on 1510am 100 miles away and I never picked up WEAL on the same frequency in Greensboro 50 miles away. I limit myself to transition time dxing here.
