Worst Radio Commercial Today

What is the worst commercial on radio today?
Has to be the ad for the retractable awning for your deck. The 'screeeeching' wife who calls out to her husband "Harry" to "tell them about the discount Harry" is so obnoxious and belittling to husbands that I for one would never buy this product. Maybe, they can "retract" the wife in this "worst radio commercial"
What is yours?

Every time the awning ad airs, I change stations. Nearly driven me to homicide several times.

My picks gotta be the Pioneer Basement Systems gang - "We're passionate about basements".

Uhhh....you need to get a life then..........

And the phone number - 1-800-BUSYDOG. Whats with that? Sounds like a purebred stud service should be answering.

Runner-up: Any ad voiced by the firm's owner. You cheap, vain bastard! Cut loose with a few bucks and piut a starving VO artist to work 'fer gawdsake!

You've remembered the number, so as annoying as you find it, it did its job.

Jim Cook (Koch?) the brewer of Sam Adams and what'shername from Castle Graphics are two that are easily recognizable.

Most owners can't cut a few lines for all the money in the world; maybe it's the ego trip of hearing oneself on the radio?

For whatever reason they re-did this spot with a different "wife"...the first one was bad enough, the new version is even worse.

Dunno if they were there all along & I never noticed it before, but there seem to be a lot of
800-X00-xxxx numbers with the first digit of the exchange heavily emphasized (800-SEVEN! hundred 4379 or whatever). Are these all PI spots?

Ernie Boch Jr. has got to be the worst. He sounds like a total moron on his ads. Odd, since he sounds like a normal, fairly intelligent guy when he's doing that "stump Ernie" bit on WODS. I have no interest in buying either make he sells, but even if I did I'd go elsewhere.

The labor-union ads have got to rate near the top of the "obnoxious ads" list too. There seem to be lots of them on WBZ...teachers union, nurses union, electricians, and a bunch of public employee unions.

How can anyone top....

...the loathsome "Rocky Mozell" and his International Suckers Registry! See Ya!

It's too bad this thread is restricted to only RADIO SPOTS?

I can think of 2 car dealerships in Maine that need a "TV SPOT RETREAD!"

One of them has a crazy screaming announcer standing next to the owner of the car dealership---and each is trying to compete for the "I'm goofier in front a camera than you are" award! The other features 2 chubby gentlemen (one named Irwin) who are supposed to be twins...but I'll bet it's a split-screen deal with the same person playing both parts? Anyway...both halves are trying to convince viewers to buy a truck while wishing us a HAPPY NEW YEAR or cheering on the U.S.A. Olympic teams! I'm sure the intentions are good, but the spot confuses the heck out of me!

However---the biggest loser is BOB'S DISCOUNT FURNITURE!

I've been tempted to check out their "bobbie boy beds" and other furniture, but Bob's female companion prevents me from setting foot inside the store! Doesn't the woman who performs in the commercials with "BOB" annoy a few other viewers aside from myself?? Is she trying to relate to men...women...or a 3rd sex that doesn't exist??? While "Bob" isn't much of an improvement...the moment that girl opens her mouth....I want to smack her!!!!

Since "mercy killings" aren't permitted in New England...does anybody reading this own A STUN GUN WITH A SILENCER???

Bobby, You do realize he is trying to copy the style and sayings of his father's old commercials which where famous in these parts? Also have you ever been on the Automile? He sells many makes then two almost everything but Ford. His father was most famous for his Boch Olds dealership however rumor has it that he made him most of his money being the first US dealer to help Subaru get onto American soil.

You don't have to like his commercials but you should understand the history and what he is trying to portray.

I'd say Barry and Elliot would win hands down. Of course thay can't even tell eachother apart anymore...

If Bobby doesn't know that ernie Boch Jr sells other cars, then doesn't that prove his ads don't work? What does his family tree have to do with anything? The average listener could careless about what he is trying to portray, they just want to know if they should shop there or not.

How about John from Alperts? I absolutely can't stand this guy. "Hi this is John from Alperts Furniture Warehouse and Showplace!" I can't believe this guy has been doing ads for so many years. He is by far the worst. <P ID="signature">______________

Giant Auto Glass ... the one where they the "Man on the Street" singers. I wouldn't use them for my glass replacement just because of those spots!

I miss Bill Marlowe! Actually, my wife had a cracked windshield and we remembered the ad.. and they did a good job fixing it so I guess it worked in that case ;-)

my picks? Any of the Sally Pawlick spots about gay marriage. The ad WXKS-AM for the guy who offers behavior mod courses in that heavy NY accent... "BACK TAWWWK"

not really a commercial but the PSA where the dad advises the kid to impress a girl by showing her how strong he is or wear a shirt and tie... cringe-worthy

Yeah, Sally Paw Lick is the worst. With a name like hers she should stay off the radio.

Doesn't matter. If it doesn't resonate with an non-native, then it won't resonate with someone just out of college either. And, that's who you really want to hook - for a lifetime of business. Not the 65-year old who remembers it from the old days on Reve-ah beach.

It's a bad ad, I don't care who started the tradition.

AGREED!!!! I rue the day when the horror of Bob's commercials spread outside of Connecticut like an unwelcome pest. Somewhat akin to Gypsy Moths or Fire Ants...a pest that comes from somewhere else and is now everywhere!!!

Now, they have slimed the NY market too! What terrible ads! Bob's chick needs to show more skin to compensate for her awful voice and mannerisms. Maybe it would improve things - though I doubt it (pun intended!). And Bob comes off as a whiny little weasel who is clearly stroking his ego by being on TV hawking that cheap crap of his. He sounds awful and isn't too easy on the eye, either. The ads are as tacky as the furniture he sells!

Gimme Barry and Elliot any day - they have style!!!!!!!!

Maybe I'm the only one who listens to the Celtics on the radio but they run the same Harvard Community Health Plan ad over and over and over and....

It starts out with "Hi, I'm Charlie Baker." I've started to think that Charlie Baker is the point guard on the team.

It is really acute when they go into overtime and they don't seem to have more ads scheduled to run. They start playing this one back-to-back....argh!

I think the idea is that if the owner voices his own ad, it's supposed to give him and his company a "sincere" quality.
