I was speaking in general terms(but an educated guess), but, I would bet a dollar to a donut that if you go to the top ten markets listed on this site's ratings section. ...not one AM Oldies/Classic hits is ahead or even in the same solar system as an FM Classic Hits/Oldies...and I have many, many more AM oldies stations (to My personal Liking/notice i didnt say best-thats subjective) than WCBS or KEARTH (the Top two in the Top Two Markets)....Prais said:Hornet said, ".....Crappy FM Oldies Stations today are outdrawing Great AM Oldies stations 5-1..because of the sound. Can you please elaborate w/call letters and data??

you are correct about k-tel, Ronco and Adam VIII..they were all originals..slightly clipped to fit 29-30 cuts onto an LP.oldies76 said:hornet61 said:I said anyone who know his oldies can tell a re-recording on the first 2 notes....not the masses.
So Very True!! By the way, K-Tel in the 70's did issue original recordings on some of their LP's. Also the old Ronco and Adam VIII LP's also had some originals on their compilations. I think this is a somewhat recent trend of all these CD companies issuing bogus re-records for the masses. Honestly, shame on them! I would never buy one.
You had to make me go and look..Prais said:What happened to 5 to 1???? Sounded pretty sure of yourself until you clarified what I would call BALONEY, but that's just me.
Statisics can sure prove anything.
Be careful you don't get STUNG by a hornet.
Thanks for clearing that up.
PS It's less bcause of the "sound" (if you mean am vs fm) than because of the music played demographics and who listens, but now i"m sure you'll clairify "what you meant" again. sheesh.
that good because, Jonathan king left for the moon in 1965 and was scheduled to arrive in the year 2525...........peace out.Prais said:Thanks for the clarification. There is so much bs in so many places, and your post was quite "sure of yourself" so I just wanted to see what you had.
PS Everything's great here on the moon. (ha!)

Nope, not quite true. Allen Klein, the Beatles' shyster, uh, I mean, manager, hired Spector to produce the Let It Be sessions for some "quick cash." The Beatles themselves had basically washed their hands of the project by then, and were moving on toward their respective solo careers. John Lennon and George Harrison may have been Spector fans, because they did, indeed, invite him to work with them on their respective solo projects. But it's also worth noting that Spector did not "drown" their Let It Be songs in strings and orchestration to quite the extent that he did with "Long and Winding Road."TheFonz said:The Beatles must have been Spector fans. I liked the way that George Martin worked with the Beatles, basically letting their work shine through, and not drowning it in orchestration. Even with the LOVE project, which I initially thought was a bad idea, he only added strings to one of the 20+ songs on that collection.Talk_Dude said:And, not if you're familar with the work of Tom Dowd, Todd Rundgren, and dozens of other producers who were far better than Spector could dream of.firepoint525 said:Not if you're a Beatles fan, DUH!FRR said:Spector was the greatest record producer in the history of rock music.
