Worst station slogans of all time

Let's face it, there have been some really bad radio station slogans over the years. Which ones stand out?

I grew up in Seattle and remember the old KING-AM calling itself "Soft Rock and More!". Never really understood what the "More" was.

Will "We play anything" be a joke 20 years from now? Or is it already?

What are some other memorably bad slogans?

For a short time in Philly, WMMR used the slogan "Live the Life, Respect the Music". HUH? For a rock station?

But, years before, their slogan was "The Radio Station", thats it,, "93-3 WMMR, The Radio Station" Simple, no BS. None of this "Were #1" crap that no one outside the industry cares about. As simple as it sounds, its effective.

Another great one was from NEW-FM back in the day. "Where Rock Lives".
(((KNOCK, KNOCK,. KNOCK. "Can Rock come out and play?" )))

BTW, good topic. This should be fun.

"Listen or Die" it's either a very good slogan, or very bad. I won't tie it to the station that used it.

How many stations used the phrase "Real Radio"? As opposed to what?....

I'd have to put that one in the lame slogans category. Especially considering that WNEW was all over the place formatically.

A station I worked at a few of years ago had a slogen that made NO sense.

MUSIC FOR NOW, 949 POWER FM

The reason it made no sense, was because it was all over the imaging, and then you would hear it going into an 80's track. there were a few of us left scratching our heads about that one. The PD lasted about 18 months, and then went to ground.

Oldbones,
Maybe you are not old enough to remember back when WNEW was the legendary rock station in New York. (just playing with your screen name). That was the place where you could hear John Lennon stop by to talk with Scott Muni in the afternoon,, totally unforgettable radio. It really was "Where Rock Live(d)".

I'm not sure if they used it on the air, but I remember seeing a billboard for an Active Rocker in the Dayton, OH area that advertised "Less Music from Dead People".

I wonder if they had to drop Nirvana from the playlist after Kurt Cobain pulled the trigger...

And that slogan was lifted from Pirate Radio in LA, where Scott Shannon invented it.

My personal favorite in the San Francisco Bay Area was KLOK - "Yes/No Radio." The format was based on the notion that people could vote yes or no to keep a song on the playlist. Before playing a song that was new to the playlist, they would invite people to call in and vote yes or no. Supposedly, they would dump the song if the majority voted no, but I think it was all fake. After awhile, KLOK morphed into a typical Light Rock station, and they rarely announced the phone number to call - but kept the stupid slogan anyway.
