WORST TV SHOW OPENING THEME

Someone gave me the idea in the "Best TV Show Theme," so I thought I would run with it.

My vote would have to go to the short-lived "Dinosaurs" theme song- it was probably one of the dumbest theme songs in my opinion. Starts out with drums kind of like a jungle theme, then when the dad says, "Honey, I'm home," it jumps into some dumb sounding synthesized irregular beat.

...a tie between Gilligan's Island and The Brady Bunch. Lousy lyrics, mediocre melodies. The Partridge Family is a close runner-up...

Yet they're all some of my favorite themes.

The generic version of Married..With Children is pretty bad

Interesting footnote to this thread. Back in 1980 the popular Washington DC Q107-FM morning team of Dude Walker and Doug Limerick ( later to go to ABC News ), this very same question was asked on the air. The BIG winner?

Marlo and the Magic Movie Machine.

The Ropers (also the worst opening credits)
Who's the Boss?
Charles in Charge
Empty Nest (all those Witt-Thomas-Harris shows had the same music)
One Day at a Time
Murder She Wrote

One Day at a Time

Thank you ! !

I was going to mention that but every single time I say that that the opening "sucks" somehow I always end up getting damned by those who live in Indianapolis as if I say that the theme of One Day sucks then I must mean that Indianapolis, the city and people who live there must suck too. Hey...nothing wrong with Indy the city and the people who live there but that theme to One Day at a Time.....UGH ! !

The Bill Cosby Show (prior to the Cosby Show) where he plays a gym teacher.
One Day at a Time.
Most 1970s detective shows.
The (so-called) "hip" version of the Man from U.N.C.L.E.

Agreed about One Day at a Time . I don't think anybody's mentioned Alice, yet. It's an irritating song, and Linda Lavin sings it like she's some kind of vocal acrobat. She's a passable singer at best, and that's being charitable.

Totally agree about One Day at a Time! What a horrible opening theme with off-key, squeaky vocals. Just a mess.

Alice was a little better, but still bad - particularly the later seasons when Linda Lavin was permitted to get "artistic". Basically a precursor to those horrible auditions for American Idol where the so-called vocalists show us how "good" they are by belting out an ear-splitting yodel of multiple off-key notes. Yuck!

I think the opening for "Malcolm In The Middle" is odd. It sounds like a wrestling
show is coming on. The music is a bit catchy, but more odd than enjoyable.

The big band jazz arrangement of the "Leave It To Beaver" theme in its final season was bad.

I agree on "One Day At A Time" solely on the fact that hearing the theme meant the show was coming on. Hated that show.

As far as current shows, how about the theme for Wayne Brady's "Let's Make A Deal"? Possibly the most bland, generic network TV theme song ever.

While I agree the theme to "One day at time" is pretty bad (as was Bonnie Franklin's acting ability)..my nominee for the worst theme is

"Three's Company"!!

Both the male & female singer are horribly off key..and the music sounds like it was done on the cheap..

Alice was a little better, but still bad - Yuck!

I hated the Alice theme, because that meant the end of the weekend, and back to school on Monday.

One of the worst ever for me is that one from "Friends"-- seriously, despite the lyrics of that song "I'll Be There For You," I have never been and I will never be there for them.
