WOSM-103.1-Ocean Springs upgrade status?

SuperTalk was on WPMP for awhile and it didn't work too well. Kipp is the kind of guy to make it happen though. People on the Gulf Coast aren't too concerned about what happens in Jackson which is why it didn't work on WPMP. It is a shame that it didn't

What did the Dittman's sell WABB to EMF for? $2 Million with a signal covering Mobile, Pensacola, and Biloxi?
Now a C1 CP on the Mississippi Gulf Coast in Ocean Springs is worth $1.5 Million? What's so friggin great about that small Southern Miss market? Is casino advertising money THAT good?

Consider this...a person is working on a difficult puzzle that will take years to solve, if ever. Then, a needed piece appears at a price that to some, may appear puzzling ( excuse the pun)...it all depends on who is solving the puzzle and what he is willing to pay for the piece. Actually, everything else is irrevelent..think about it. JBI

Was anyone privy to the sales information on WOSM? Was $1.5 Mil the asking price or was that what SuperTalk bid the price up to?

I'm not familiar with other FM talk stations in Miss besides SuperTalk and WBUV. Does anyone think SuperTalk will be able to get better ratings on the coast than CC's WBUV gets or would you expect SuperTalk's ratings to be more in line with WWL's ratings in Biloxi?

I realize the main benefit of adding WOSM to the SuperTalk network is to sell statewide advertising, but it feels like they just bought into the Biloxi market to fill out the network. Gulf Coast markets don't seem to fit the mold of inland markets. Looking at WOSM alone as a news/talk station it doesn't appear to be the best or most profitable format for the channel/market... but with the whole point of the acquisition being to cover all of Mississippi it makes a whole lot of sense.

As it is now being presented, the SuperTalk-WOSM deal seems weird, but I don't think it's necessarily a bad idea.

Keep in mind in certain sales, non compete, consulting fees, ad donations, tower lease. etc could be in addition to the sale price of the station.

Not much overhead if the full network is run. Two words "Casino advertising" ;D

I've been trying to figure that out for over a decade. Is the casino advertising money so good that the Clear Channel Biloxi cluster would bring in more revenue than CC Mobile or possibly even CC New Orleans?

Also, as I recall, WOSM refused to carry any "sin" commercials for casino's or beer or the like. I would be very curious to know if any of that mentality factored into the sale. Did Telesouth agree to keep WOSM "clean and Christian"? Or would $1.5 mil for that station be enough to make the Coopers check their morals at the door?

Why all the attention to casino advertising? There is a much bigger picture in play here..the casinos, IMHO, are a mere side attraction. Besides, Supertalk listeners are not your typical casino customers, based on my remote observation. Please, look behind the curtain! JBI
