I posted this on another site, but it looks like that site's been taken down, so I'll post it here.
WOSM's long-unbuilt 100 kW construction permit has been cancelled by request. If built, it would have relocated the TX site north of Ocean Springs and put a pretty decent signal over the major population centers of the Mississippi gulf coast as well as much of Mobile city and county. In its place, they have an app pending to replace the existing antenna with a new model which will raise the HAAT about 10 meters but leave the TX site and power at 50 kW.
It appears this was done at the behest of Apex Broadcasting in Fort Walton Beach, Florida; their WZLB "Blazin' 103" is currently a C2 with a stick well east of town. It almost makes it to Panama City from that spot. They have an app pending that would relocate it to one of the towers right in the heart of FWB (off Hollywood Blvd.) and boost the height. They'd lose coverage of cows and pine trees and gain some secondary coverage in Pensacola that they really don't have now.
