Would 101.1 The Beat Ever Change its Call Letters

Given the fact the Dance format was dropped back in 2008 for Classic Hip Hop (The Beat)

Would there be a Call Letter change to match the Moniker/Format

How about

KABT-FM 101.1 or KPBT-FM 101.1-FM..........Arizona's Beat/The Beat of Phoenix

Unless Sierra Feels the Legacy "KNRJ" Call letters may be more valuable....

When we flipped the format I lobbied to change the calls to KKBT as an homage to the former LA station. The answer I got: "Why bother spending the money to do it?" Fair enough, I had bigger battles to deal with there. In other markets it usually happens with format flips but for some reason in Phoenix, as Perry pointed out calls are seldom changed.

I would like them to keep classic hiphop. I don't like the currents that they shift to at night. I know that is the popular choice, but since I'm as old as hiphop, I miss the older style when it was going in 20 different directions. The hiphop of today all sounds the same to me, and nothing really innovative any more, but that's just my opinion. :D

Not only does it cost you money, but the next time some other sucker (ahem) I mean businessman decides to flip to dance they might pay the station to give up the call letters.
