Would a "Gen X" format work in San Antonio?

Drove about 1200 miles to the Northeast recently. Sampling the radio offerings in the major markets along the way, I noticed how many of them have 90's-centric Classic Hits stations which are imaged as "Gen X Radio" or some variation on that theme. Would that format work in San Antonio?

I would like to hear this format in SA but I don't see Cox or CC flipping any of there stations to this format.

There was no "Gen X" movement in SA back in the 90s. It was flooded with freestyle, gangsta rap and tejano. Luck for those who craved alt. rock & such, you could DX 101X and Mix 94.7 out of austin from the northern part of SA back then.
