It could work given a chance. However, the companies that will take the risk had successful stations here in Atlanta (at the height of the Jack fad), and the others that like to stay in their shells didn't.
CBS is the only company that would do "Jack", but got burned in several markets (WCBS-FM New York a notable example). Given how Dave is doing under PPM, I don't know if they would flip. Clear Channel has experimented around with adult hits, but they can not be counted on here. Cox and Cumulus insist on staying in their carefully researched holes that tell them 300 song playlists are the best thing since sliced bread.
Citadel might be bold to save money from no DJ's...but they already flipped 106.7. Lincoln Financial isn't going to mess with 94.1 soon because of the impending (on hold) sale. Radio One doesn't generally cater to non-African-America audiences, so I don't see them. And don't ask Salem to play rock and roll.
CBS and Clear Channel are the only ones who will play, and CBS is the only one that will pay the consultant for the rights to the "Jack" trademark.
The only taste we got of the format is when B98.5 had a "whatever" weekend earlier this year...once. If you want adult hits, you better pray every day for 94.9 to flip to the format, because that is the only station I see that might do it.
Wait a minute...don't we have a weird sort of Jack in Atlanta already that will play "everything"...complete with bird songs...WMLB 1690?
