Would a Smooth AC hybrid format work in DC

Do you think a hybrid Smooth Jazz/Smooth AC format if done right could work in DC? I was listening to 107.3 The Wave out of Cleveland
which is Smooth AC and while at times it does seem boring, they occasionally play good tracks that I don't often here, like Marc Cohn "Walking in Memphis", Herb Alpert "Making Love in the Rain", Linda Ronstadt & Aaron Neville "All My Life Lyrics", Conya Doss "Don't Change". I notice the ratings are up there since they changed to the new format. I also notice that outside of News and the CHR, AC and Urban AC seems to be popular here. I have to admit, I don't listen to Washington area radio stations anymore since I have satellite radio and my iPod, but if we had a station like 107.3 The Wave here, I would definitely listen, especially if they are playing tracks I normally don't here.

I wouldn't want Walking in Memphis on a Smooth Jazz station. Stick to the instrumentals, guitar and some R&B/non R&B vocals. But don't start creeping in AC music...

Smooth Jazz has had an interesting life in Balt/DC. For awhile in the 90's, it had its own station while also being on WJFK AM&FM on weekends.

I think it could work again.
