Would CBS consider morphing Mix in to a Fresh outlet?

Something has to be done...and soon! The stations ratings are in death spiral. CBS brass must be kicking themselves that they acquired such a crippled station.

I'm quite sure they will figure something for this Class C 100KW city grade signal. It's not like they acquired a move-in.

Mix placed 15th in ratings, but 4th in Cume. I am still not exactly sure what the Cume means, but wouldn't 4th in the market mean a bunch of people are listening to MIX? CC didn't do a thing to give MIX a chance in the ratings in years.

Also, Michelle Fisher, Keith Scott and Natalie Fitzgerald are still on MIX, as they have talked about moving to the new studio. I figured they would have been replaced when CBS took over. Did jocks from KLOL move to CBS, as well?

I like the music that MIX plays. Its the onlyl station in town that DON'T play hiphop krap mixed in the playlist.

(no offence to the hiphop lovers)

I have to agree with shane....if Country Legends plays one more rap song I think I might go crazy.

No offense to the rappin' rednecks out there.

Sorry couldn't resist hitting on this.

Naw. They wouldn't be offended. Country rap dates back to Elvis with "The US Male" back in the late 1960's, a song written by Jerry Hubbard. Jerry Hubbard's stage name was Jerry Reed, who had big hits with "Amos Mose," "Uptown Poker Club,' and others. What about Ray Stevens, "The Streak?" Yup, dem country boys were doin' it way back then.

or.... "Poke Salad Annie" by Tony Joe White? 8)

poops

"Gators got your granny' has got to be one of the best lines of all damned time! Good call, poops and Chuck.

Allow me to add:

"I've Been Everywhere" Hank Snow

"The Auctioneer" Leroy Van Dyke

"Ahab The Arab" Ray Stevens

"The Wildwood Weed" Jim Stafford

"T-R-O-U-B-L-E" Elvis Presley and later on by Travis Tritt

Plus all of the following by Jerry Reed:

"When Your Hot Your Hot"
"Tupelo Mississippi Flash"
"She Got the Goldmine (I Got the Shaft)"
"The Bird"
"Another Puff"
"Caffeine, Nicotine, Benzedrine (And Wish Me Luck)"
"Lord, Mr. Ford"

All of these were country rap. What a great guitar picker, too.

Getting back on topic, it would seem that some revamping is needed for 96.5, which I think has an identity crisis. For every other commercial FM in town I have a good idea of the genre of music they play, and the target demographic. KHMX on the other hand seems to be an unfocused mish-mash of "what the hell are they playing?" Perhaps CBS can sharpen things up a bit.

I think the talk of the "Fresh" format is spurred by the big, fat, juicy numbers that Sunny pulls in, without any real competition. Yeah, it's soccer mom stuff, but it works.
