WOULD CBS EVER CONSIDER SWAPPING 105.3 AND 1080?

Last Wednesday, when the inclement weather was threatening North Texas, it would have been really nice to hear KRLD's weather coverage on FM (105.3 HD-2 was coming and going in Collin County and WBAP was mostly running Hannity).

And with The Fan's continuous underperformance, I am wondering if there would be significant advantages to swapping the frequencies: Sports on AM, News on FM.

Any thoughts?

What would be the point?

The AM has far superior coverage than the FM.

If anything KRLD should do what WBAP did and simulcast on both.

News Radio KRLD 1080 AM and 105.3 FM!

News is more mass-appeal than sports and FM is where the bulk of potential listeners are. Who knows, maybe The Fan would even benefit from being on the same band as The Ticket for easier button-pushing.

The AM has far superior coverage than the FM.

Not if you are inside of a building, near a high-tension line or in the middle of an electrical storm.

I agree, what is the point?

How much longer does CBS allow The Fan to underperform on 105.3 FM before they blow it up for a simulcast with News Radio 1080? ???

They should dump The Fan all together.

Who says it's underperforming? No, the ratings aren't good, but, from everything I've heard, it bills reasonably well. Sports doesn't need very good numbers to sell, which was probably part of CBS's justification for putting it on 105.3 from the beginning.

A lot of dogs will have to die before CBS drops a sports station in a top-five market.

And that means more "dog death dedications" for Casey Kasem. ::)
