Would someone tell the gang at 3TV

During Wednesday's 8:30 newscast on Good Morning Arizona, Scott Pasmore was reading a story about the U.S. Spelling Bee taking place in Washington, DC. He stated that the contestants are from all 50 states and English speaking countries including Guam. Could someone please tell Scott and the 3tv writers that Guam is a U.s possession and is part of the United States? I have several relatives from that island, including an aunt who used to head the U.S. Social Security Administration office there.

Scott's response is "no comprende" and "una mas margarita." ;D

Actually, there's a good chance Scott had never heard of Guam before, much less know that it's a U.S. territory.

This is what happens when you hire 22 year olds who do not have any concept of grammar, geography, history, economics, science or any other core knowledge subjects to write the news. Scott Pasmore probably did not write the copy himself.

Speaking of 3TV, I find those new "The place with more News" billboards hilarious. I didn't know "news" had become a synonym for "hot chicks."

TV's great for "Andy Griffith" reruns and "24." Other than that.....

Earlier Wednesday, Scott read the story about the new wildfire on the Rim. He started by saying the fire was 11 miles Northwest of Forest Lakes and then finished the story by saying the fire was 12 miles from the cloesest town.

Another one that raises it's ugly head is Scott will read the sports early and then either Tara or Olivia will read it in a subsequent news segment. The video is never sync'd to the storyline and the mispronunciation of players names is bad. Olivia called the winner of the Indy 500 as Dario "Fran-chitty". When I suggested that the sports guys tape a sports segment or two to play in the morning (like many of the other stations do so that the video can line up with the story), I was accused by the executive producer of being biased towards women doing sports!!!

Not meaning to split hairs here (well, maybe...), can someone ask the promotion folk at KTVK, is it "Good Morning Arizona!" or is it "Good Morning! Arizona" (emphasize on the placement of the exclamation point).
Their latest promotion effort shows both.

As a rule, I don't watch 3TV, but noticed the discrepancy during their playback on D'Backs games.

Salt to wound, the promo contains a blurb of "technical difficulties" and the anchor behind a double box.

Hello?

While we're on the subject of geography, someone at channel 15 needs to look at a map as well. They ran a story in their 10pm news Thursday night that said that Escondido, California is ON the U.S.-MEXICO border. It isn't. Escondido is located about 30 to 40 miles north of San Diego, putting it between San Diego and L.A. One of its claims to fame is that the Lawrence Welk Resort is located there.

They all have their moments. A couple of Saturday nights ago, Brahm Resnik led off the late channel 12 newscast with a story on the Pro-MON-to-ry fire. He said it a couple of times, but it was really noticeable after he passed the story off to Caribe Devine, who immediately began explaining the details of the PROM-on-to-ry fire.

I guess pronunciation isn't a high priority when writing for a newspaper.

On Friday's Good Morning Arizona! (or is it Good Morning! Arizona) ???
Scott Pasmore was reporting on 'lanky Sanjaya' from American Idol. Tara Hitchcock said "lanky, who wrote that?" Pasmore replied "probably one of our lanky writers."

Surprising! Typically, Brahm is pretty good. At first, I had a hard time getting used to him but, compared to some of the youngsters, he's not bad.
