Would this be a good station

I have my own pirate radio station that covers my house, which i plug into my ipod with jango radio playing. I play a mix of rock, metal, christian rock, pop rock, and country. Would this be a good station?

Flyleaf
Skillet
Within Tempation
t.A.T.u
Paramore
Seether
Lacuna coil
We are the Fallen
Avril Lavigne
Hey Monday
Taylor Swift
Epica
Nightwish
The Hooters
Breaking Benjamin
Daughtry
Coldplay
Nickelback
HIM (His Infernal Majesty)
CKY
Tarja
Michelle Branch
69 Eyes
Adele

no. because the playlist is too broad genre wise. you have hard rock, country, alternative, pop and even christian rock in the same playlist. it doesn't fit a format. some good bands though. try an internet radio station with a "my radio" name.

I decided I'm removing the christian rock hits from the playlist. When I get another transmitter, I am debating to myself if I want that to be christian rock or classic rock.

It would be fine as a web station. You could promote it as a wide variety, genre-be-damned music experience. And as long as the music is good, someone will find it entertaining.

With the virtually limitless availability of web radio, noncommercial terrestrial radio can and should be more selective in what it programs. Not that there's anything wrong with a WPRB in an overradioed market like Philadelphia, but most markets have a more limited number of signals. In markets with more than enough signals, it's a sustainable luxury to have an eclectic outlet with a great signal smack in the middle of the dial. But outlets with compromised signals need to stand out with consistency and a unique programming angle. Just hitting random on the playlist won't do it.

Hmmm....interesting.

I would probably lose a few of the extremes and narrow your focus a bit. I think that taking the Christian Rock out is probably good - except those artists/songs that have a solid crossover component.

I'm not sure such a format would draw huge numbers, but there are people who do like to hear genres mixed. I know that when I lived in the New York metro in the 90s I was a huge fan of WFUV 90.7 and their "City Folk" format. WFUV would mix various genres and it sounded great. You might hear The Beatles followed by Tori Amos, followed by Johnny Cash or Hank Williams, followed by BB King.

I think if you took out some of the pop stuff, a station like that would draw an audience - maybe not a huge audience, but a loyal one

I feel like you either need to lean male or lean female though - Michelle Branch and Seether on the same station is gonna turn off too many of your listeners
