would this kind of AC work?

these are sample hours of a local AC station with the slogan of "guaranteed music variety." What are we doing here: radio or used car sales?

Its more of an AAA/Classic Hits hybrid at times. Could it be good competition in NYC against Light, Fresh and CBS? or in LA with KOST and K-Earth?

I heard a dead segue of A Flock of Seagulls - I Ran into Joni Mitchell - Big Yellow Taxi one time on this station. theres a lot of Gordon Lightfoot and it often plays James Taylor - You've Got A Friend -- ROCK ON!!! They play such boring 70s drivel that when you hear anything with a pulse (Rock out to Dave Mathews!) it might stand out

It's interesting, that's for sure. Where is "local"? I'd love to hear the station, if they stream.

take out the current pop-esque stuff and the station becomes an interesting classic hits, other than that i doubt you could get a long TSL

Agreed! It feels much too wide in a not very comfortable way for an AC... I'd be hard-pressed to see much TSL even in the context of a classic hits station, no matter how interesting, but classic hits isn't my programming forte' so maybe I'm just not seeing it.

Here in the New York Metro, I missed what 106.7 Lite-FM used to be..the great music of the last 30 years, they were the home of legendary New York voices like Frank Sinatra, Barbra Streisand, Neil Diamond, Tony Bennett along with the 80s and early 90s lite music as well. That to me is what a true lite station should be. Not Daughtry or Pink or whatever other crap trying to pull in younger people.

Amen to that! I always hope that the soft AC or "lite" stations we had back in the 80's and 90's would "recycle" and come back on radio. Those "Lite" FM's today just don't do it for me. I'd be happy with just the lighter stuff mixed in with the EZ artists that used to make up the format, and none of that other nonsense you mentioned. I'm not holding my breath, though. :'(
