Would this work in New York City

As most know, in San Francisco, oldies station KFRC went from oldies to a 70s and 80s format, centerting the music on the 38-49 crowd, Generation Jones I believe it is called. Music includes Elton John, Diana Ross, I guess some of the biggest and most popular hits from the 70s and into the 80s. Does anyone think this would work in NYC? Possibly get some displaced CBS FM listeners or picking up Lite FM listeners?
