The Iraq Invasion. Warrantless wiretaps and searches. Torture of prisoners. The Patriot Act. No Child Left Behind. And new Thermal windows. What do all these things have in common?

Tony Snow sells them. And in the case of the windows, he sells them on Ronnie Reagan's old station.

New York Times:
On any given day, radio listeners can hear Tony Snow, the White House press secretary, selling the president’s policies on Iraq, terrorism and the economy. But if they live in Iowa, they have also been able to hear him selling the home products of Nu-Vu Windows and Siding, in an advertisement he recorded back when he was a Fox News radio host who regularly plugged his local and national sponsors (read more - NY Times) (listen to the mp3 audio spot)

Tony Snow now replaces Ed McMahon as they guy who will sell anything.

As long as he's still pitching, maybe he could sell Bush the Verbal Advantage course.

The station in question is owned and operated by Clear Channel Radio. Their lineup includes Rush, "Dr." Laura (yes, she still has some stations), Michael Medved (Salem host who combines movies and religious right politics - just like Ronnie) and Michael Reagan (adopted son of Ronnie and Jane Wyman; the son of Ronnie and Nancy does a liberal talk show). The website's History section also includes a tribute to former station sports announcer Ronnie Regan, who worked for the station when it was owned by a chiropractic school and who did fake play by play of ballgames.

I like the way Tony seems to have the reporters more unhinged than the guys before him. He has taken ever so little of the pompous air out of their balloons and it's about time. He speaks more clearly (while still saying nothing) than the others and seems to be having a good time. The guys that sound best in this business sound like they're having fun.

Tony has as much to learn as any of the syndicated talkers about doing a decent endorsement spot. Quit reading the spot and tell me why you believe I'll be as happy with the product as you are.
