Would you interrupt the Seahawks game?

KIRO has been cutting directly out of the Seahawks game right in the middle of play-by-play to cover the shootings at the Tacoma Mall. They just roll over the top with no intro or outro. Good idea or bad???

Well, KIRO is considered a news station. And shootings at the Tacoma Mall are usually considered news....

I agree with the others, but seeing that KIRO's news image is getting pounded by KOMO, wouldn't a ten second authoritative liner be a nice open?

Better question might be: What are they smoking at KOMO???

I heard the breaking news reports on KIRO, switched over to KOMO (the so-called all-news station) and they were doing business reports, traffic and sports updates.

If you're KOMO, why not do wall-to-wall coverage, especially when the situation was unresolved and a gunman was still on the loose with hostages inside a major mall????

There's not another all-news station in America that would have stuck with the news wheel during a major breaking story like this.

KOMO showed today why KIRO is still the news king in Seattle.

No question breaking into the 'Hawks game was the right thing to do. KIRO's only fault? They lacked consistency by not using their "continuing breaking news coverage on NewsRadio 710 KIRO" intro liner and the 'stay tuned', etc. outro.

Uh - next time, maybe you should stop listening to KOMO airchecks and comment on the LIVE broadcast - which WAS wall-to-wall coverage of the shooting, anchored by none other than Bill Yeend.

It was a Sunday afternoon. It sounded like they were running with a skeleton staff. What I heard was that for every 10 minute block, at least five of it was dedicated to the shooting coverage. And that stuff was all anchored by Bill Yeend.

All the other news was anchored by Charlie Harger. It sounded to me like when Bill wasn't on the air - he was out in the newsroom doing, you know, legwork.

Also note - the Sports and Business reports were much shorter than normal - and Heather Stark was keeping track of street closures in Tacoma due to the shooting.

I thought it sounded real good.

Uh - I was listening to KOMO LIVE. And it was NOT wall-to-wall. They stopped for business. They stopped for sports. They stopped for traffic. They stopped for weather and the all-important 5-day forcast.

All I'm saying is KIRO had a football game on and I got more info from KIRO than I got from the supposed all-news station.

Dude, are you F**()_N insane??? Life is Not a videogame. Report that F***** SHOOTINGS!

Life is feeling more and more like a video game these days...geez...
