Well,Im really just doing a survey and I want to see How Many People Would like an all 80's Station back in Atlanta And do you think it will work if there is an 80's Station! Since
105.3 WMAX has been out for about 3 year now if im not wrong? So if Cox radio Drops The River do you think we might get an 80's Station??

While I am sure there are several people that would like one. I would not. I do like lots of 80's music but not the same 300 songs that those stations play. There are many songs I like from the decade, and many of them were hits. However none of them are mainstream enough to warrent airplay by a major media conglomerate.

Talk to me in 5 years when all of them bail out of radio because there will no longer be any money in it for them anymore and radio can go back to being locally owned like it is supposed to be.

All Eighties is not a format. It is a CD collection. Ask the dozens who tried to make it one 5 years ago. Every single one ended up changing and/or expanding their library in an attempt to save it.

How about 86 through 94?

Your positioner could be..."The best of the late 80's & early 90's with more variety, less repetition, no hard rock or sleepy elevator music in super 50-minute music hours with traffic & weather every 10 minutes while you head to work"

:D

I would like to hear '83 through '94. But it would have to be a mix of pop and rock. Broadening the playlist with artists ranging form the MTV generated one hit wonders into some the more mainstream rock of that era such as Rush, Van Halen and the like would be something I could persueded to listen to often. If it is just a rehash of the Friday Night 80s that Star used to play then my attention would be held for about five minutes.

And why would Cox drop "The River?" It's among the market leaders 25-54 and doing extremely well.

Cox has had a lot of success with the Classic Hits format.

24hr Retroplex maybe? That might be cool.......for about two seconds. The Retroplex is great, but in small doses, like it is now.

I'd like to hear a station that plays it all...REGARDLESS OF FORMAT! Start out with Strawberry Alarm Clock's Incense and Peppermint and follow it up with Usher or Kanye West and then go to Herb Alpert followed by Styx or even the Temptations. Just one big extended jukebox of every song ever recorded by everyone.

Of course, nobody would listen...or would they??? ;)

"Yes Pat, I'd like to buy a punctuation mark."
