Wouldn't It Be Novel If...

...when BizRadio goes to "their new home in Dallas - Fort Worth," they ended-up on the same frequency that they're on in the Houston market. That way, they could always identify themselves as BizRadio 1110, whether they're simulcasting or not. Of course, there are other advantages, too.

Just a thought.

Is this the same format on 1360 (KMNY)??

Yes sir, it is.

Sure, I can hear it now:

"(dah dah dah dah duh dah...) You're listening to the BizRadio Network, the sound of your money growing. KTEK/KMNY-1110AM, Hurst-Dallas-Alvin-Fort Worth-Houston."

It would save on stationery, too..."BIZRADIO 1110...check one: Houston Dallas"

Andy, your traffic reports would go, "Southbound I-45 heavy from the Shepherd Curve down to the Pierce Elevated; on the northbound side, an accident at Woodall-Rodgers has traffic slow from I-30."

I know in my neck of the woods, anything at 1110 would be completely blown out by KRLD-1080.

What will happen to 1360 when they move to 1110??

I think my good friend Mike Shannon could answer that question better than I could. I'm guessing more foreign-language broadcasting and, I think, some liberal talk program(s).

Hey, they could have gone "green," but little KAND in Corsicana beat them to it!

I'd go with the brokered foreign language as a likely candidate. Nighttime on 1360 (even as bad as it is), however, could be a good fit for "Radio Saigon," since the signal from KTXV 890 is gone after sundown.

I've already applied to have the KXOL calls brought back to 1360. The format will be "Hi-Fi Radio" (sort of a Memories 96.7-meets-Z Rock, with a little Classic Asian Country tossed in,) featuring Ron Chapman mornings, Jack Schell middays, Ron Selden afternoons, and Cat Simon evenings. Saturdays will be an all-day, all-night "Hi-Fi Club" marathon, and Sundays will be all-old KXOL airchecks with Casey Kasem AT40 Classics in the morning. Russ Bloxom will handle news, and Warren Culbertson, weather.

Nah, the progressive talker would like to lease the entire broadcast day/night from MRBI. Word on the street is that they may be looking for their own station to buy, or a different one to lease with a better night signal. Personally, I don't think they can peddle enough ads (and quickly enough) to afford what MRBI charges for just the prime daytime hours. I'd bet the profitable election ad season will be long over by the time any changes happen at KMNY.

Far as Radio Saigon, I believe they (or some similar format) are having some success using 990's signal that beams decently from Farmersville into Richardson, where there's a high concentration of Vietnamese population.

Heheheheh ;D

The Metroplex could brag that they now have a beach, though it would take about 4-5 hours to reach Galveston.....
