Wouldn't this work better for 102.7?

At least better than country? :D

Seeing that NYC has only one true news/talker and no underperforming huge signals, wouldn't 102.7 be able to stave off it's umpteenth flip a little longer going against the increasingly stale, sat-feed WABC? Considering that Glenn Beck and a number of other decent talkers are available or could be persuaded to move...

Two FM talk stations? Owned by the same company? And Glenn Beck... ::)

I also wouldn't say there's no underperforming huge signals. On the FM side there's Free FM which still needs to show actual growth, and Jack FM, which is showing signs but is still doing mediocre. PLJ is also "underperforming" in terms of listeners but rakes in money. One could argue WFME is "underperforming" as well.

On the AM side, WOR is definitely underperforming. WLIB perhaps as well...I'm not sure that their new gospel format has taken off (they also don't seem to be doing any publicity for it over at Inner City). ESPN Radio and Radio Disney are definitely "underperforming" but they serve a different purpose...branding and product placement in market #1 for Disney.

I personally believe even one FM talker is one too many....

I meant unperforming AMs. And FreeFM is a different type of talk station.

A station can't be underperforming if its performing to its owners expections; therefore, 1560 and 1050 are immune, as is the occassionally and illogically mentioned 1130. WOR makes plenty of money, and while eventually they should begin to segue into younger-skewing talk (ie, when ALL of their audience is 83 years old), you can expect more of the same from them for some time.

That's exactly what I meant, which is why I included the line about corporate branding. They may be underperforming in the ratings, but they successfully fulfill a different purpose for their corporate owners.

What will work on 102.7 . Classic Hip Hop " Fresh 102.7 ".

The NEW Stale 102.7, less talky dj's, because we don't have them right now. no old stuff, (although secretly we're trying to combat lite fm). The NEW Stale 102.7, as fresh as that 1am quick chek donut.
Oh, put me to sleep already. It sounds like a new fresh ****** product for the happy housewife.
I still want dance music back on the airwaves....

Energy! 102-7 The REAL Beat of New York!!!
today's FRESH beats..

wishful thinking, i know.

Glenn Beck = National Socialism. Why don't you ask 77 WABC to carry him? Phil Boyce would love to do it.

Don't know what you mean by that, or why it means Phil Boyce would want to run it. He's holding on to the last scraps of local programming he has. Even though his time isn't devoted solely to WABC, anyway.
