Our day was December 25th, 1972. We (3 children) pooled our resources (Mom and Dad) and asked for a "family" gift for Christmas. Lo and behold, it was an RCA AccuColor 19" color set. WOW! I finally saw that the "Zoom" kids wore red and blue stripped shirts. It was a really nice set for the time. It had a very strong VHF/UHF tuner. No detents on the UHF side, just the continuous knob moving from 14-83 (yes, there were UHF channels up to Channel 83). But at the time, locally, we only had 27, 38, 44 and 56 on the UHF side here in the Boston area. That RCA lasted over 10 years. In '81 my late parents decided to upgrade to an RCA 27" color set with digital tuning (very new at the time). Nice color and very good sound for the time. By the time '85 rolled around, I was married and got a freebie Sharp Linytron color set that lasted two years. By that time, my folks had practically a TV set in every room (all color). Now at 51, I have a nice flat panel set. So, I've moved with the times from a 12" GE Adventurer II (black and white) in 1968 to a modern Olevia flat screen set. It was a gift from a friend so the price was right!
