wow>>> looks like wmad has a new morning show!!!

WWQM Morning Hosts Move Down The RoadAs reported to you by ALL ACCESS, Country WWQM/MADISON has been looking for a replacement for exiting morning show stars, JOHN FLINT and TAMMY LEE. We now know the team has landed not too far away. FLINT AND LEE will join CLEAR CHANNEL Country WMAD/MADISON as morning show hosts in mid-NOVEMEMBER, after sitting out a six month non-compete. During those six months the team will handle special programming for CLEAR CHANNEL Country WMIL/MILWAUKEE. who knew?

I'm not suprised too much by this news. CC Madison has been aggressively promoting Star Country since it began in December, and it seems to be working a little bit judging from the Winter book. What better way to take Q106 down a little further than enticing its morning team to work at WMAD... and so what if a non-compete clause gets in the way? Don't be surprised if you see Star Country billboards with John & Tammy Lee plastered all over Madison come November?BTW, Mike Ferris claims in the column that WMAD's signal is better than Q106's. I always thought Q had the better signal. What rationale did he use for that claim?

Technically, it's true that WMAD has a better signal than Q106. WMAD is a class B1 station with power that's equivalent to 25,000 watts where Q106 is a class A with a signal that's equivalent to 6,000 watts. As far as what station comes in best within Madison, Q106's tower is located on the west side of Madison and WMAD's tower is placed in northwestern Dane County. With all the interference coming from the city as well as UW, etc., I'd say Q probably has the edge signal-wise, despite their power, considering they have a stick that's actually within the city limits.
