Wow! Song from 1998 on DRC-FM last night

Sadly that's just about on-par for a "classic hits" station these days. Both songs are 15 years old, and that's about the time tracks start in that mix. I'm just surprised we're not hearing more early-mid 90's at this point.

Not sure about DRC, but I know some oldies stations like WCBS-FM played both of those songs when they were current (along with "Smooth" by Santana). So this doesn't bother me.

It's not so much about the song as it is about the artist. You don't see any other 90's songs on classic hits stations because few artists that were MASSIVE in the 70's had big hits in the 90's. The artist was huge, so the song gets play. It's not really breaking news, and as noted above, it's been done plenty of times.

Fun fact: Cher's "Believe" was the first commercially released song to use AutoTune in its production.

Is it possible WDRC meant to play "Half-Breed" but ended up playing "Believe" instead? Was it a technical error, or did the jock actually backsell the song as "Believe" after it played?

No, they've played that song several times before he mentioned it. They're definitely playing the right song from the late 90s here.

I know I've heard Cher's "If I Could Turn Back Time" on DRC-FM, but never "Believe."

I know they're in a rush to get a younger demographic, but annoying tracks like "Mambo #5" and "Believe" are not gonna do it for me. While you're at it, why not add "Tubthumping" and "Mmm Bop" and drive EVERYONE at the lower end of your age demo away?

I still enjoy wdrc alot but i dont like the direction its taking in less and less 60s and 70s and more 80s.It really wasn't that long ago that drc was just about all 50s and 60s with some 70s.I guess ill need to keep building up my mp3 collection of the oldies if i want to continue to enjoy them.I know its all about money and its destroying a station that i have loved for a long time.

If I had the money I would buy 910 AM from The Gois Family and make the format 50s, 60s, and Early 70s Oldies.

While outside today doing some yard work i was listening to WDRC.They advertized the Rocken Ron all request tonight at 7 with 70s and 80s music.Does this mean that no more 60s will be played on his show also? i hope not.

Just scrolled through the playlist. Nothing from earlier than 1972. Goodbye, 1960s, your hits are poison to the Big D's advertisers. :(
